When you use a third-party Sales Channel, Polar Analytics will display the ID of the channel instead of its name. This can become confusing if you're not sure which channels correspond with each channel ID.
To simplify your Sales Channel names, you can leverage Custom Dimensions to rename each channel (and make them more easily identifiable).
How-To: Rename Sales Channels
Step 1: Locate which ID corresponds to each Sales Channel in Shopify. The process for locating channel IDs is explained in this article.
Step 2: Create a Custom Dimension to rename each Sales Channel.
Launch the Custom Dimension builder here.
In the When statement, pick the "Sales Channel" dimension, the "is" operator, and type in the Channel ID as a value. See below for a visual.
Type in the new name you'd like to give your Sales Channel in the Then statement. In the example below, we're renaming the Sales channel "1615469" to 'Online Store'.
You'll also need to add your Else statement, which dictates what will be returned when none of the When conditions are met. In this case, it's best to pick the existing dimension (Sales Channel) from the list, so that the default channel names are returned for all other values.
Once complete, the Custom Dimension should look something like this:
Step 3: Repeat Step 2 for any additional Sales Channels by adding additional "When-Then" blocks. If you have multiple channels with IDs instead of names, you can add an additional "When-Then" block in the Custom Dimensions.
Step 4: Save your Custom Dimension & apply in a Custom Report. When you add the breakdown, instead of the ID, you'll now see your Sales Channel names.
