🛡️ What is Handoff?

Updated over a week ago

Handoff is the in-app confirmation process for picking up and returning items. Its primary purpose is to:

  • Timestamp the exact start and end of a rental.

  • Activate Poppins Protection, ensuring both users are covered.

  • Finalise transactions so payments are processed correctly.

🔄 The Step-by-Step Process

1. At Pick-up (The Start)

The goal here is to ensure the item is going to the right person and that the insurance coverage begins immediately.

  • Borrower: Provides a unique, personal Code (found in account settings).

  • Provider: Enters this code into their app to confirm the identity of the borrower.

  • Result: The rental officially begins, and protection is activated.

2. At Return (The End)

Once the item is back in the provider's hands, the process must be closed out.

  • Provider: Click on "Complete the rental" in the app to confirm the item has been returned.

  • Result: The rental is closed, and the financial transaction is finalised.

💡 Why the Code Matters

Using a personal code rather than just a "confirm" button adds a layer of security, especially when meeting in public places. It creates a verifiable record of the exchange, which is essential for resolving disputes or processing insurance claims through Poppins Protection.

🆘 Privacy & Support

  • Your Code: If you are a borrower, your code is private. Only share it with the provider at the moment of the physical handoff.

  • Help: If you run into issues during the handoff or the code isn't working, you can contact the team at support@wearepoppins.com.
