Frequently Asked Questions around the SEARCH product

Updated over 11 months ago

What content can I see in the new SEARCH product?

You'll be able to see articles published globally across different data sources such as Print News, Online News, and TV, Radio and Podcasts within SEARCH.

How far back can I search for Content?

You can search for content from the last 12 months to the current date.

Why can’t I see the full content for some articles?

Some articles may have copyright restrictions and license constraints which may prevent you from seeing the original content. This will also prevent you from adding these items to a TRAC search and Shortlist.

What keywords and expressions can be used in searching?

The SEARCH product currently supports simple boolean, which includes the following operators:

  • Use uppercase AND operator to search for keywords in AND

  • Use uppercase OR operator to search for keywords in OR

  • Use uppercase AND NOT to exclude keywords.

There are also a few more considerations when using keyword search:

  • Do not use a space to separate multiple keywords. Example: Anthony AND Albanese is a valid keyword search. Anthony Albanese is not.

  • However "Anthony Albanese" wrapped in double quotes is deemed valid as this is an exact phrase match.

  • Only keyword searches are supported. By default we search in both the title and body for content that matches the specified keywords.

  • If 'Search in title only' is enabled, we will search in the title only for content that matches the specified keywords.

  • The keyword search area is not case sensitive.

Can I add content from SEARCH to a report?

Yes, you can add content from SEARCH to a Shortlist on TRAC, and from there, you can then add your shortlisted content to a Coverage Report.

Will metrics such as AVE, ASR, Visibility be added to the content once it’s been added to a TRAC search?

Yes, these metrics will become available as the analysis is done after the item is added to a TRAC Search.
