Display limitations in Pulsar's SEARCH product

Updated over 11 months ago

As we aim to offer comprehensive content access through SEARCH on Pulsar, certain display limitations are enforced to adhere to copyright requirements and maintain performance standards within the Pulsar platform.

Our commitment to upholding license and copyright rules, as outlined in our publisher agreements, remains unchanged in the SEARCH feature. This means access to licensed content via SEARCH will be truncated and the ability to add any content that falls under these rules will be disabled for any users who do not have full authorised access. We have listed below the general copyright and display rules for clarity.

General

  • Content from licences that are not active in your Pulsar domain will be visible in SEARCH, but only headlines and summaries and a maximum of 255 characters or 50 words, which ever is greatest, will be displayed. In addition to this, users will not be able to click through to the original content or add the content to a TRAC search or Shortlist due to copyright limitations.

  • Metrics and metadata of articles will not be displayed as the analysis of these metrics is done only after the content has been indexed into a TRAC search. This means these metrics and enrichments will be available when you add an article or post from SEARCH into a TRAC Search.

Online News

  • APAC Online content will always display headlines and summaries to a maximum of 255 characters or 50 words, whichever is greater.

  • You can click through to the original article and bypass paywalls depending on the copyright restrictions active in your domain.

  • You can add online news items to a TRAC Search or Shortlist depending on the copyright restrictions active in your domain.

Print News

For APAC Print content:

  • Print content will display headlines and summaries to a maximum of 255 characters or 50 words, whichever is greater, depending on copyright restrictions active in your domain.

  • You won't be able to click through to view the original print clip from SEARCH

  • You can add print news items to a TRAC Search or Shortlist depending on the copyright restrictions active in your domain.

  • Once a print item is added to a TRAC search, you can see the full text and click through to view the original print clip from within your TRAC search.

Broadcast Data

  • Broadcast content will display the full transcript, depending on copyright restrictions and licenses active in your domain.

  • You'll be able to play the broadcast clip directly from the SEARCH product.

  • You can add Broadcast news items to a TRAC Search or Shortlist depending on copyright restrictions active in your domain.
