What is a Narrative?
In the context of Narratives AI, narratives refer to clusters of related conversations, articles, and social media posts that revolve around specific topics or themes over time. These narratives can be similar news articles, social media trends, or emerging narratives that drive discussions.
By exploring narratives, you can uncover key aspects and nuances, and gain valuable insights into the complexities and multifaceted nature of a conversation. Each narrative provides a distinct voice and viewpoint, helping you comprehend the discussion from different perspectives.
What features and functionality are in the narrative detail page?
The narrative details page helps you understand a narrative in depth. It include the following information:
Narrative Summary: A concise description representing the core details from potentially thousands of pieces of content that formed the narrative.
Trend Chart: A visual representation of the narrative’s trajectory overtime. This chart shows how the narrative has unfolded, including spikes, toughs, and turning points.
Narrative Evolution chart: A visualisation presenting the narrative in context of the similar conversations and related topics. The chart reveals how the narrative formed, where it is going and where it merged or split into multiple sub-narratives over time.
Top Content: A selection of sample content associated with the narrative, including social media posts or news articles that provide context, and inspiration for content that can drive a narrative.
What does the Trend Chart tell me?
The Trend Chart is a visual representation of the narrative’s trajectory over time, providing a overview of how it has unfolded, including:
Sudden increases in attention and engagement, indicating key events or milestones in the narrative’s development.
Periods of decreased attention and engagement, potentially indicating lulls or periods of stagnation in the narrative’s progression.
Significant shifts in the narrative’s direction or tone, revealing changes in the narrative's focus or momentum.
By hovering over points on the chart you will see the main topics of focus during a particular point in time. Clicking on a point in the chart will show you the top content that occured during a particular point in time to help you understand the context of changes in the trend.

Here's how it works:
Topics bars: Represent points of a narrative in time (days or weeks)
Topics bar size: Indicates the interest in the topic compared to other topics
Links: Connect topics and narratives to show relationships between them
Color: Topic bars and links are color-coded to represent different narratives. Each narrative is a different colour.
Time: The chart is arranged chronologically, with topics and links appearing in the order they emerged
Date slider: Displays the total interest to point out high or low points in interest and allows you to move to specific periods
By using this visualisation, you can:
Trace the development of a specific narrative over time to see what conversation/s it emerged from, what narratives are running parallel and what narratives are being created by it
Identify key connections and relationships between narratives and themes to gain context around the selected narrative and understand how it fits into the broader conversation
See how different topics have merged or split over time to form different narratives
Zoom in on key events to see different angles of discussions occurring
