Muting & Unmuting a Video

You can mute your video but you will be unable to unmute your video so make sure you triple-check beforehand!

Updated over 10 months ago

Have you ever been triggered by shuffling feet or other unintentional noises in the background of a video?! Or have you ever talked through a whole video just to realize five minutes in that you are muted?! Well, we have… and it was so triggering that we even created a “mute” and voiceover feature to help! Check out our thoughts on it below:

When to mute:

  • If you’re just recording a unit, amenity, or another video with no speaking.

  • If you enjoy having to re-film because you forgot to unmute during a speaking video! 📹

When not to mute:

  • If you’re filming any sort of video where you’re talking during the shoot. Basically, when you need the words to match what your mouth is saying! (If you’re not visibly speaking in the clip, you can use our voiceover feature later to reduce background noise.) 🗨️

  • If you’re filming a resident testimonial, resident video, or other “live” events. 📅

Unmuting a Video 🔇

If you have already recorded a clip without sound, there is no way to 'unmute' this clip. However, there is another option that you can do!

When recording, your clips are muted by default. This is to cut out any background noise during your video! If you want to record with sound, you can click the microphone icon on the screen before you begin recording. You also have the option to do a "Voice Over" on your clips after you have finished recording!

Muting a Video 🔊

Once you start recording your video, it should automatically be muted. 🔇 We’ve gone ahead and muted it to eliminate any background noise, but as you’re recording your video, you can tap the microphone button to adjust! 🎤 (The microphone will appear white if it is unmuted and red with a line through it if it is muted.) You can even update your default setting preference by going to Settings > Video Settings > Default Mic to Mute (toggle on/off as desired).

If you forgot to update the mute setting while recording, no worries. We have a fix for you! 🛠️

On the app 📱 ...

1) Simply tap the three dots to the right of your desired video. 📹

2) Next, scroll down and click "Edit Video Segments".

3) Then click the three dots to the right of your desired clip and select "Mute Clip".
