Yes. Connecting your payroll to Rent Butter is safe, and we never see or store your payroll login.
How the connection works
We use Pinwheel, a service that securely connects to hundreds of payroll providers. When you log in, your username and password go directly to Pinwheel — Rent Butter never sees them.
Pinwheel then gives Rent Butter read-only access to the pay information needed to verify your income. That's it.
What we can see
Your recent pay stubs
Your employer name and start date
Your pay rate, hours, and earnings totals
What we cannot do
We cannot change your direct deposit or any payroll settings
We cannot see or store your payroll login
We cannot see other employees or company-level data
What happens after verification
The payroll connection is one-time. Once we've verified your income, we don't have ongoing access to your payroll account. Your login was never stored, and Pinwheel doesn't keep checking your account for us.
