When you sign the Terms & Acknowledgements, you're authorizing the screening checks that the property manager has set up for their application. Here's a high-level look at what gets checked.
What Rent Butter screens for
Identity — confirming you are who you say you are, using the ID you upload
Income — confirming your ability to pay rent, based on what you provide (bank, payroll, or documents)

What's actually run depends on the property
Property managers configure their own screening — some check all of the above, others only run a subset. The exact criteria, thresholds, and decision logic vary by property.
Who sees the results
Screening results are shared with the property manager who invited you. They use the results to make a decision on your application. Specific limits on use, retention, and sharing are described in the Privacy Policy and User Agreement linked from the application.
Do I have to consent?
To complete the application, yes. If you don't sign on the Terms & Acknowledgements screen, the application can't move forward. If you have questions or concerns, contact your property manager before submitting.
