Overview
Lead nurturing is central to RentEngine’s ability to convert prospects into leases.
The system schedules follow-ups automatically based on the prospect's status, but you can also view, edit, cancel, or create follow-ups manually.
This article explains how follow-ups work and how to manage them from the Command Center.
How automatic follow-ups work
RentEngine schedules text message follow-ups based on:
Prospect status
Recent activity (like showing outcomes)
These follow-ups send at specific times to keep conversations moving without manual effort. For more details, check out this guide on automatic follow ups.
View, edit, or cancel a scheduled follow-up
Step 1 — Open the prospect
Go to the Command Center
Select the prospect you want to follow up with
Step 2 — Open the follow-up panel
In the bottom-right corner of the message thread, click See scheduled follow-up.
This panel shows:
The next scheduled message
The send date and time
Step 3 — Edit or cancel
To edit
Update the message text with the pencil icon
Choose a new send time
To cancel
Click the red X to remove the follow-up
If the prospect does not respond after a full sequence of follow-ups, RentEngine automatically marks them as Unresponsive.
Create a follow-up manually
If no follow-up is scheduled, you can create one.
Open the prospect profile
Click Create follow-up in the bottom-right corner of the message thread
Write your custom message
Select a future date and time
Click Create follow-up
The follow-up is added immediately and will send at the scheduled time.
Common reasons follow-ups are paused
Follow-ups pause automatically in certain situations.
Prospect responded recently
If the prospect responded within the last 36 hours, the scheduled follow-up is paused until you have the opportunity to respond to their question
Showing scheduled or confirmed
Only transactional reminders are sent
Lead nurturing pauses
After the showing, the next status (for example, Still deciding) kicks off a new relevant follow-up sequence
