Overview
When patients add items to their cart but don’t complete checkout, RepeatMD now sends an automatic reminder to help bring them back. These abandoned cart notifications are proven to drive more conversions and generate additional revenue, without any effort from your practice.
This feature runs automatically in the background so your team never has to manage follow-ups manually.
Why This Matters
Nearly 70% of all carts are abandoned, and cart reminders recover over 20% of those lost sales on average. By nudging patients with quick reminders:
Practices see a clear uplift in recovered purchases
Your staff doesn’t have to manually track or follow up with individual shoppers
Patients appreciate the convenience of getting back to what they were considering
These notifications help convert “almost-buyers” into paying patients, with no effort required from your team.
How Abandoned Cart Notifications Work
1. A Patient Adds an Item to Their Cart
They browse your shop, add a product or service, and exit before completing checkout.
2. RepeatMD Automatically Sends Reminders
We use best-practice recovery timing that historically leads to higher conversions.
Patients may receive up to three reminders after creating a cart:
30 minutes after: Push notification (if enabled)
1 day after: SMS
3 days after: Push notification (if enabled)
These intervals are based on industry research showing that early nudges and spaced follow-ups lead to higher completion rates.
Reminder Conditions:
If a patient does not have push notifications enabled, they receive SMS instead.
If a patient completes checkout, the sequence ends immediately.
If a patient clears their cart, we stop messaging.
Note: Patients on Custom Plans already have their own dedicated communication flow. They will not receive this abandoned cart sequence.
3. One-Tap Return to Cart
Each reminder includes a unique deep link that opens the patient’s cart instantly, reducing friction and increasing the likelihood they complete their purchase.
