Save Your Practice's Contact Card (Patient App)

Learn what's included in your practice's contact card and how to save it to your phone so future texts are recognizable.

Overview

Practices have their own dedicated marketing and transactional text numbers, so patients get a one-time text with a link to save the practice as a contact. Saving it means every future text shows up under your practice's name instead of an unrecognized number.

Why It Matters

Once a practice's dedicated numbers go live, texts start arriving from two numbers a patient's phone has never seen before. Without saving them, those messages can look unfamiliar, get buried, or get flagged as spam. Saving the contact card once fixes that immediately, and it takes one tap.

What's in the Card

  • Two labeled phone numbers: Promotions (marketing texts) and Updates (transactional texts).

  • The office phone number and address for the location the patient is associated with, when the practice has one on file.

  • The practice's website, when it has one set.

How It Works

Tapping the link in the text opens a page with the practice's name and logo and a Save contact button. What happens next depends on the phone:

  • iPhone (Safari): opens straight into the Add Contact screen.

  • Android: downloads a contact file — tap Open to add it in the Contacts app.

  • Desktop or another browser: tap Save contact to start the download manually.

After saving (or coming back from doing so), the page shows a "Saved?" confirmation and continues on to the practice's app automatically after a few seconds — or the patient can tap Continue right away. If the save didn't actually happen, "Didn't save? Try again" reopens it.

If a practice hasn't finished activating both dedicated numbers yet, the page simply says the contact card isn't available right now — nothing is broken, it's just not ready.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Open the text from your practice and tap the link.

  2. Tap Save contact.

  3. Confirm the contact when your phone's Add Contact (or Contacts app) screen appears.

  4. Return to the page — it shows "Saved?" and continues automatically, or tap Continue.

FAQs

Q: Why did I get this text?
A: Your practice switched from a shared RepeatMD number to its own dedicated marketing and transactional numbers. This text makes sure those new numbers are recognizable the moment they start texting you.

Q: I go to multiple locations. Which address shows up?
A: Whichever location the text was sent for — the one you're associated with in the practice's records.

Q: Will this create a duplicate contact?
A: Your phone decides whether to create a new contact or update an existing one with a matching name — check your Contacts app if you're not sure which happened.

Q: Can I save it again later if I skipped it?
A: Yes. Reopen the same link at any time and tap Save contact (or Save again) again.

Q: As a practice, do I need to turn this on?
A: No. It's sent automatically once your dedicated marketing and transactional numbers are both live — see Enhance Your Practice's Text Messaging (Admin Panel) to activate them.
