Avoid logos that display too small (Admin Panel)

Learn how to fix a practice logo that appears faint or hard to read in the app header so patients can recognize your brand at a glance.

Overview

When a logo file is below minimum dimensions, has excessive transparent padding, or uses thin lightweight type, it can appear too small in the app header. This article explains common causes and how to re-export and re-upload a logo that displays clearly.

This article is for practice owners, managers, and admins troubleshooting logo display after uploading branding in the App Builder.

Before You Start

  • You must have Administrator or Manager access to edit App Builder content.

  • Open App Builder in the left-side navigation, then the Home screen editor.

  • Review logo specs in Asset guide (Admin Panel):

    • Minimum height: 366px

    • File type: PNG (transparent background recommended)

    • Max file size: 1MB

  • Have a design tool available to re-export your logo if needed.

Why It Matters

A logo that displays too small:

  • Reduces brand recognition when patients open your app.

  • Makes your practice look less established compared to competitors with crisp header branding.

  • Forces patients to squint on smaller screens, especially for thin or script logotypes.

  • Wastes header space you could use to reinforce your practice name.

How It Works

How RepeatMD scales logos. The app fits your uploaded logo into a fixed header area. If the logo artwork inside the file is small relative to the canvas (lots of empty transparent space), the visible logo shrinks. Files below the 366px minimum height may also render smaller than intended.

Common causes of undersized logos:

  • Exported file below 366px height

  • Excessive transparent padding around a small logo mark

  • Thin or lightweight logotype that loses detail at mobile scale

  • Icon-only logo without a readable wordmark in the header context

Fix approach. Re-export a horizontal logo at or above minimum dimensions, crop excess padding, and re-upload in App Builder.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Diagnose the problem

  1. Log in to your Admin Panel.

  2. Click App Builder, then open the Home screen editor.

  3. Review the logo in the app preview panel.

  4. Check your source file dimensions and whether the logo mark is small inside a large transparent canvas.

Re-export your logo at the correct size

  1. Open your logo source file in your design tool.

  2. Use a horizontal version with a readable wordmark.

  3. Crop excess transparent space so the logo fills more of the canvas without touching the edges.

  4. Export at 366px minimum height (larger is fine if you stay under 1MB).

  5. Export as PNG with transparent background.

  6. Use a bolder weight or simplified mark if thin strokes disappear at mobile scale.

Re-upload in App Builder

  1. Return to App Builder → Home screen editor.

  2. Under Logo, click the upload area and select your re-exported file.

  3. Preview the header again. Re-export with less padding or larger dimensions if the logo still looks too small.

  4. Save your changes.

Best Practices and Pro Tips

  • Meet the 366px minimum height. This is the floor for readable header logos in RepeatMD.

  • Crop padding, do not eliminate it. Remove excess whitespace, but leave enough transparent margin so the logo does not dominate the header. See Avoid logos that dominate the header (Admin Panel).

  • Prefer a horizontal wordmark over an icon-only file for the in-app header.

  • Test on a phone. Preview on a physical device if possible; thin logos often look acceptable on desktop previews but faint on mobile.

  • Ask your onboarding team for help. Onboarding Specialists and CSMs can optimize logo files before launch.

Common Mistakes and FAQs

Q: My logo meets the size requirement but still looks tiny. Why?

A: The logo artwork may be small inside a large transparent canvas. Crop the canvas closer to the artwork, re-export, and re-upload.

Q: Can I upload a JPG instead of PNG?

A: PNG with a transparent background is recommended. JPG backgrounds can create a visible box around your logo in the header.

Q: What is the minimum logo height?

A: 366px minimum height per Asset guide (Admin Panel).

Q: My script logo is hard to read. What should I do?

A: Use a simplified horizontal wordmark or a bolder weight designed for small screens. Extremely thin script logos often need a separate in-app version.
