A guide on how to edit the fields in your online scheduler (like adding Date of Birth or a custom text box) and how to copy or email the embed code for your website.
✨ When You Need This Guide
This guide is your go-to resource for managing the scheduler codes already in your account. Use this if:
You need to copy the embed code for your scheduler to give to your web developer or add to a new page.
You want to edit your scheduler to add or change a field, like making "Date of Birth" required.
You need to add a custom text box to collect information about insurance or the reason for a patient's visit.
You have multiple schedulers and aren't sure which one is currently active on your website.
What This Covers (And What It Doesn't)
✅ This article explains how to edit existing scheduler codes and get the code for your website.
❌ It does not cover creating a brand new scheduler from scratch. For that, please see our guide on Creating a New Online Scheduler.
✅ How to Find Which Scheduler You Are Using
If you have multiple schedulers and aren't sure which one is live on your site, here's a quick way to check before you start editing.
Go to Scheduling > Scheduling History.
Look under the Source column. This will show the name of the scheduler that was used for each appointment booked online. Note the correct name for the next steps.
✅ How to Edit Fields and Get the Embed Code
Navigate to Scheduler Setup. Go to Scheduling > Setup Instructions.
Select Your Scheduler. Click the Saved Embed Code dropdown and choose the scheduler you want to manage.
Edit Fields (Optional). In the builder on the left, make any desired changes. For example:
To Add a Date of Birth Field: Open the Form Section > Contact dropdown. Find the Date of Birth menu and select Do not show, Optional or Required.
To Add a Custom Information Box: In that same Contact section, find the Contact Note Label. Type the prompt you want patients to see (e.g., "Please describe the reason for your visit."). You can make it mandatory by turning ON the Require Contact Notes toggle.
Generate and Get Your Code. After making your edits (or if you just need the existing code), click the blue Generate Code button.
The final code will appear, and you have two options:
Option C: No further action: If the embed code is already live on your site, the scheduler will automatically update. No further action required.
Option B: Email the Code. If you are adding the code to a new page, enter an email address (like your web developer's) into the email field and click Send Email. The code will be sent directly to that inbox.
Option A: Copy the Code. If you manage your own site and are adding the code to a new page, click the Copy button to copy the code to your clipboard. You can now paste it wherever necessary on your site.
💡 Common Questions
What You Might Notice | Why It's Happening | What to Do |
I edited a field, but the change isn't showing up on my live website. | Your web browser is likely showing you a saved or "cached" version of the page. The update is live, but your browser hasn't downloaded it yet. | First, try a "hard refresh" on the page (Ctrl + F5 on Windows or Cmd + Shift + R on Mac). If that doesn't work, you'll need to clear your browser's cache. See our guide: Why Aren't My Edits Showing Up? (How to Clear Your Cache). |
Can I edit other fields besides Date of Birth? | Yes. The form builder in the Setup Instructions allows you to customize many aspects of the scheduler. | Explore the different sections in the form builder on the left (like Calendar, Contact, Confirmation) to see all the available customization options for that specific scheduler code. |
I copied the code to my website, but the scheduler looks broken or doesn't appear. | The code may have been pasted into the wrong place on your site, or your website platform might require a specific "HTML" or "Code" block. | This is an issue with how the code is being placed on your website. You will need to contact your website developer or your website platform's support (e.g., Squarespace, Wix) for assistance on how to correctly embed third-party code. |
🎉 You'll Know It's Working When:
You see your new or updated fields appear correctly on your live online scheduler.
You or your web developer successfully receive the embed code via email or by copying it.
