🔎 When Would You Manually Adjust Affiliate Commissions?

There are several scenarios where you might need to manually adjust which affiliate gets commission credit:

1️⃣ The buyer didn’t use the affiliate’s tracking link but was referred by an affiliate through word-of-mouth.
2️⃣ The sale was attributed to the wrong affiliate, and you need to fix it.
3️⃣ You want to credit an affiliate post-purchase based on feedback from the buyer or affiliate.
4️⃣ You need to adjust commissions for promotional reasons (e.g., offering bonus commissions to a specific affiliate).

⚙️ How to Manually Add or Change an Affiliate Commission in Rootabl

Follow these steps to manually update which affiliate is credited with a sale:

Step 1: Log into Your Rootabl Dashboard

Go to your Rootabl dashboard and navigate to the correct Campaign.

Step 2: Find the Sales tab and Locate the Sale You Want to Adjust

Scroll through the list of sales to find the one you need to adjust. You’ll see details such as:

  • Buyer’s Name

  • Email Address

  • Sale Amount

  • Commission Amount

  • Affiliate Credited

Step 3: Select or Change the Affiliate

In the Affiliate tab, you’ll see the current affiliate credited with the sale.

  • Use the dropdown menu to select the correct affiliate from the list.

  • If the affiliate you need isn’t listed, make sure they’re already set up in your Rootabl account.

Step 4: Save Your Changes

Once you’ve selected the correct affiliate, click Save. The sale will now be credited to the updated affiliate, and the commission will be reflected in the next payout cycle.

🔄 What Happens After You Change the Affiliate Attribution?

When you manually update an affiliate commission:

  • The new affiliate will see the updated sale in their Affiliate Dashboard.

  • The original affiliate will no longer see the sale attributed to them.

  • The commission amount will be adjusted in your next payout cycle.

💡 Pro Tips for Managing Affiliate Commissions

  • Communicate with your affiliates: If you’ve made a manual adjustment, let the affiliate know about the update to avoid confusion.

  • Use Review Week to check commissions: Take advantage of Review Week (the first week of each month) to ensure commissions are correctly assigned before payouts are locked in.

  • Keep your attribution model in mind: Ensure your first-click or last-click attribution settings align with your business goals. You can update this in your Campaign Settings.
