Nomad Insurance Complete: Is There a Benefit if My Flight, Train, or Bus Is Delayed?

Yes. Nomad Insurance Complete includes delay coverage if your scheduled transportation is delayed.

You may be eligible for reimbursement of reasonable out-of-pocket expenses, such as:

  • Meals

  • Lounge access

  • Accommodation


When Does Delay Coverage Apply?

You may qualify for reimbursement if:

  • Your scheduled flight, train, bus, or boat (with a valid ticket) was delayed or cancelled, and no suitable replacement was provided within the time limits, or

  • You were involved in a traffic accident on the way to your departure point, causing you to miss your original departure and be rebooked beyond the time limits.

Your transportation must be arranged with a licensed carrier operating scheduled routes.

Not covered:

  • Taxis

  • Ride-shares

  • Privately rented vehicles


Delay Length & Reimbursement Amounts

3–8 hour delay

  • Up to USD 60

8+ hour delay

  • USD 150 for the initial delay

  • Up to USD 150 per additional night (if accommodation is required)

  • Maximum USD 450 per trip

Annual maximum

  • Up to USD 900 per policy year


Delays From Your Primary Residence

If the delay starts in your country of residence, coverage is limited to:

  • USD 60 (short-delay benefit only)


What Do I Need to Submit a Claim?

Please include:

  • A copy of your original travel itinerary

  • The updated (delayed) itinerary

  • Receipts for meals and accommodation

  • Proof of the transportation delay

  • A police report (if the delay was caused by a traffic accident)

Additional documentation may be requested depending on the circumstances of your claim.
