Children on a plan
Up to two children under 10 years old can be added to a group/family plan at no extra cost, limited to one child per adult.
Children must be at least 14 days old.
Children cannot be covered under their own plan — they must be added to the plan of an accompanying adult.
If you want to purchase a plan for a child who is travelling alone and they are under 18 years old, you would need to purchase a plan for yourself and add them as a group member.
Plan options
We offer three types of plans:
1. Recurring Plan – paid every 28 days (up to 364 days)
Choose only a start date.
Automatically extends every 28 days.
Payments are processed 3 days before each cycle extends(you can see your next payment date in your SafetyWing account).
You can choose to add any available add-ons (US coverage, Adventure Sports and Electronic theft add-ons)
Continues until you cancel or until it reaches the maximum duration of 364 days.
2. Recurring Plan – paid every 364 days
Choose only a start date.
Billed as a single payment covering a full 364-day active insurance period.
Receive a 10% discount on the total price compared to the 28-day recurring plan.
You can choose to add any available add-ons (US coverage, Adventure Sports and Electronic theft add-ons).
Home country coverage: up to 179 days per 364-day active insurance period (up to 45 days per 180 days if your home country is the US). Coverage is limited to the first 90 consecutive days of each visit.
3. Fixed Dates Plan (5 to 364 days)
Choose both a start and an end date.
Make a one-time payment for the entire duration at purchase.
Only the U.S. add-on is available to be added to this plan. Adventure sports and Electronics theft add-ons are not available to be added to this plan.

Important
Your plan comes with an extra requirement in certain claim situations from the date and time of purchase.
Specifically, claims for accidents, illnesses, or incidents that took place/developed/were diagnosed within the first 72 hours from the purchase date and time of a new plan require additional documentation confirming that the time of the incident or onset of symptoms was after the purchase time and date.
The 72-hour period starts immediately from the exact date and time you purchase the plan.
Why This Matters
If you purchase the plan less than 72 hours before departure, any claims for medical issues occurring within that window will require additional documentation.
Planning ahead helps ensure you are fully covered when your trip begins.
