I have to keep turning the diffuser on for it to work

What to do if your diffuser doesn't start automatically and you have to turn it on manually every time.

If you keep having to turn your diffuser back on, it's usually because the connection with the app has been inactive for a longer period.

This happens more often with diffusers that have been in use for a while. The Bluetooth connection then loses its trust with the app, so automatic schedules stop working and you have to start the device manually every time.

Solution: reset the diffuser

The simplest fix is to reset the diffuser. This restores the connection and gets everything working the way it should again.

Here's how:

  1. Open the device with the included key and remove the front panel.

  2. Remove the oil reservoir (the blue bottle) to prevent leaks.

  3. Make sure the diffuser is powered on:

    • Connect it with the power cable, or

    • Use batteries
Set the black slider switch to the correct position (Power or Battery)

  4. Press the reset button with a paperclip or a pin (small hole under the word ‘reset’).

  5. Disconnect the power (unplug the cable or remove the batteries).

  6. Turn it back on

  7. Open the Scentech app and reconnect the device

After resetting, you can set everything up again in the app, like scent schedules and intensity. See also the article Resetting the diffuser for more details.
