There are two steps to this process—register your details and request the transfer.

Register your details

  • Log in to Sharesies.

  • Go to Account > Transfer shares.

  • Add your CSN or HN, and your FIN.

  • Sharesies will then verify or reject your details. We’ll send you an email letting you know the outcome within two working days.

Request the share transfer

  • Log in to Sharesies.

  • Go to Account > Transfer shares > Transfer in or Transfer out.

  • Select NZX from the list of stock exchanges.

  • Choose the investment you want to transfer.

  • Enter the number of shares you want to transfer. To transfer in, enter the amount of shares that you hold in that investment and the average price you paid for each share. If you don’t enter an average price when transferring in, we’ll use the latest close price. When transferring out, we'll use the average price you've paid per share.

  • Select Next and review your transfer request. Once you’re good to go, confirm your transfer request.

  • Once requested, it should take two working days for the share transfer to complete.

Please note, New Zealand share registries do not accept share transfers to a Holder Number (HN). You can transfer shares from a HN into your Sharesies account, but if you want to transfer shares out of your Sharesies account, the transfer has to be to a Common Shareholder Number (CSN).

Joint CSN/HN

For transfers coming into or out of Sharesies from a joint CSN or HN, we require consent from all investors on the CSN or HN where the investments are coming from.

To get this consent, they’ll need to be a Sharesies customer, and we’ll need to receive their confirmation through email at help@sharesies.co.nz.

Once requested, transferring shares into or out from a joint CSN or HN may take longer than two working days.
