Keyword Research
The Keyword Research tool in Smart SEO helps you find the right keywords for your products, collections, and pages - and track how they perform in Google over time.
Choosing the right keyword is one of the most important steps in SEO. By default, Smart SEO uses the product title as the focus keyword in the SEO Audit, but if you want to fine-tune your SEO performance, you can use Keyword Research to find better keywords based on real search data - and assign them directly to your products, collections, pages, blogs, or articles.
Note: To use the Discovered Keywords, Keyword Monitor, Discovered Pages, and Page Monitor tabs, you need to connect your Google Search Console account first.
Keyword Suggestions
The Keyword Suggestions tab lets you search for keyword ideas based on a seed keyword.
Type a keyword into the search field, and Smart SEO will return a list of related keywords along with the following data:
Volume - the total search volume for this keyword.
Avg. monthly searches - the average number of monthly searches.
Trend - whether the keyword is trending up or down compared to the previous period.
Competition - how competitive this keyword is (High, Medium, or Low).
Monitored - whether you have already added this keyword to the Keyword Monitor.
You can filter results by Country, Language, and Competition level to narrow down the suggestions.
Actions
Each keyword in the results has two action buttons:
Monitor keyword (+) - adds the keyword to your Keyword Monitor list, so you can track its performance over time. Think of the monitor list as a list of "favourite" keywords list. You would normally want to add keywords that are:
Relevant to your niche/products
Have a good combination of high volume / low competition in the best case scneario. Or, if a keyword has a high competition words, make sure it also has a high volume.
Set as focus keyword - allows you to assign this keyword as the focus keyword for a specific product, collection, page, blog, or article. This directly affects the SEO score for that item, since the audit evaluates your content based on the selected focus keyword. Once you set a given focus keyword to a product/page, make sure you optimize for that keyword in the SEO Audit feature.
Tip: For more information on what a focus keyword is and how it impacts your SEO score, see the Focus Keywords article.
Connecting to Google Search Console (GSC Settings)
To use the Discovered Keywords, Keyword Monitor, Discovered Pages, and Page Monitor tabs, you need to connect your Google Search Console account to Smart SEO. This is the same Google connection used in the Sitemap feature.
To connect, go to the GSC Settings tab and click Connect to Google. Sign in with your Google account and authorize Smart SEO to access your Search Console data.
Once connected, if you haven't added your website to Google Search Console, you will be prompted to do so.
After you have your website connected and added to Google Search Console, Smart SEO will pull your keyword and page performance data from it, and the Discovered Keywords, Keyword Monitor, Discovered Pages, and Page Monitor tabs will become available.
Discovered Keywords
The Discovered Keywords tab shows you all the keywords your store currently ranks for in Google, based on real data from your Google Search Console account.
For each keyword, you can see:

Impressions - how many times your page appeared in Google results for this keyword.
CTR - the click-through rate (clicks divided by impressions).
Monitored - whether you have added this keyword to the Keyword Monitor.
You can filter the list by time range (7 days, 28 days, 3 months, 6 months, or a Custom range)
and by performance category: Winning, Losing, Unchanged, Won, or Lost.
Furthermore, you can also order the filtered keywords, for example by Impressions, if you want to see the most common searches made for a keyword that you rank for:
