Exit Survey: Understand Why Shoppers Leave Your Checkout

Exit Survey shows a short question list when shoppers try to leave checkout, so you know exactly why they're dropping off — and what to fix.

Written by Swapnil Sangal

Exit Survey triggers when a customer tries to leave your checkout — showing them a short question about why they're dropping off. The responses help you spot friction, prioritize what to fix, and reduce abandonment over time.

Step 1: Install Exit Survey

Go to Explore Apps → Exit Survey and click Manage app to install it.

Step 2: Enable it in Core Setup

Go to Flo Checkout → Customise → Core Setup → Exit Nudge and select Survey. Save your changes.

What shoppers see

When a shopper tries to exit, they'll see a "Why are you leaving?" prompt with these default options:

  • Preferred payment method not available

  • Need to modify items in my cart

  • Changed my mind

  • Budget Constraints

  • Not able to apply discounts

  • Delivery time longer than expected

  • Got a better discount somewhere else

  • Facing problems at checkout

  • Others

Options are shown in randomized order so no single reason is over-selected.

Where to find the responses

Survey responses are collected in Analytics → Exit Survey under the conversions section. You'll see the most common drop-off reasons ranked by frequency.

Want to recover these shoppers with a discount instead?

Use Exit Coupon Nudge — it shows exiting customers a last-chance discount rather than a survey. You can only have one exit nudge active at a time, so choose based on your current priority: data or conversions.
