How to create a segment for particular states of India?

Learn how to build a Pincode segment for one or more Indian states in a few clicks — Shopflo fills in every pincode for you, so you don't have to hunt them down manually.

Most pincode segments start the hard way — you go hunting for every pincode in a state, paste them into a spreadsheet, then upload the CSV. Shopflo has a faster path: pick the state (or states) you want, and it fills in every pincode under that state for you automatically.

This is useful any time you want to act on an entire state rather than a curated list of pincodes — blocking COD for a high-RTO state, excluding a state from a discount, or restricting a promotion to specific regions.

Step 1 — Start a new Static segment

Step 1: Go to Segments and click New Segment.

Step 2: Select Static as the segment type. A static segment holds a fixed list of values — it won't change unless you edit it.

Step 3: Give it a name (e.g. Block COD) and an optional description.

Step 4: Under Type, choose Pincode (not Phone Number) — states are made up of pincodes, so this is the type you'll use.

Step 2 — Insert pincodes by state

Step 5: Click Insert, then select State from the dropdown.

Step 6: A condition row appears: from State. Click the first pill and choose how you want to apply it:

  • Include — only the pincodes from the states you select will be added to the segment

  • Include all, except — pincodes from every state will be added except the ones you select. Useful when you want to cover all of India except a handful of states.

Step 7: Click Select states. A searchable checklist of all Indian states and union territories opens.

Step 8: Search for and check the state(s) you want — for example, Arunachal Pradesh. You can select as many states as you need.

Step 9: Click Done. Shopflo immediately populates the pincode text box with every pincode that falls under the state(s) you selected.

You're not limited to one method. You can use Insert → State to pull in pincodes for whole states, then still Import CSV or type additional individual pincodes into the same text box — they'll all be combined into one segment.

Step 3 — Save

Step 10: Review the populated pincode list, then click Save Segment.

Your state-based segment is now ready to use anywhere Shopflo supports segments — automations, discounts, and more.
