I have received an e-mail with a transaction error, what now?
If a transaction is sent from the portal or via the API and it contains too many signature tags, the status of the transaction will immediately default to ‘Failed’ and an error log will be e-mailed to the account.
The status will default to ‘Failed’ in the transaction overview.
A notification e-mail will also be sent:
The failed transaction can no longer be modified. If the transaction must still be completed, modifications to the relevant document will be necessary, as it includes too many signature tags.
What causes this error message?
If signature tags have been used for paraphs (i.e. initialling every page) and the number of tags per signer exceeds 10, an error message will be generated. This function was implemented to prevent the incorrect use of paraphs, as the price of a transaction increases due to the placement of additional signatures (see also our credits page for more details). Setting up the document also takes more time, since the signature tags must be included on each page. In short, there is a better way – use our paraph function.
How to modify the document
Open the document in a word processing programme (Microsoft Word, Apple Pages, etc.) to delete all signature tags being used as paraphs or footnotes. 2) Leave the signature tags in one or two places, i.e. where the signer would normally sign the document.
3) Save the file as a PDF. The file is now ready to be uploaded to the Signhost portal.
4) See our paraph instruction page for instructions on the correct way to add paraphs to each page.
