SmartAC.com Data & Privacy Overview

SmartAC.com is a smart home device that collects HVAC system data. Members may have questions about what information is collected and how it's protected. Here's what you need to know based on SmartAC.com's privacy policy.

What Data is Collected

Member Information:

  • Contact details (name, email, phone, birthdate)

  • Property address

  • Account credentials

  • Payment information (processed by third-party payment processor)

  • Comments, reviews, and feedback

System & Usage Data:

  • Information about your HVAC system configuration and settings

  • Network and device configurations

  • Feature usage and frequencies

  • App usage, page loads, errors

  • IP address and device identifiers

Automatically Collected:

  • Browser and device information

  • Location data (can be disabled in device settings)

What the SmartAC.com Hardware Does NOT Do

The SmartAC.com sensor kit monitors HVAC equipment only. The hardware:

  • ❌ Contains no cameras or video recording

  • ❌ Contains no microphones or audio recording

  • ❌ Does not monitor household activity, occupancy, or behavior

  • ❌ Does not connect to or control smart home devices (unless member opts into thermostat integration)

The sensors measure temperature, pressure, humidity, and system runtime at the HVAC equipment itself.

How Data is Used

Primary purposes:

  • System monitoring and troubleshooting

  • Performance analysis and optimization recommendations

  • Alerts and notifications

  • Processing orders and transactions

  • Account management and customer support

Additional uses:

  • Marketing communications and promotional offers

  • Targeted advertising

  • Product improvement and new feature development

  • Benchmarking and data analysis

  • Sharing with affiliated companies under common ownership

Data Sharing

SmartAC.com may share member information with:

  • Third-party service providers (payment processing, analytics, customer service)

  • Companies under common ownership with SmartAC.com

  • Government authorities when legally required

  • Third parties with consent

What SmartAC.com Does NOT Do With Member Data

Marketing communications from SmartAC.com are limited to SmartAC.com products and services. Members can opt out at any time through the app or email preferences. Aggregated or de-identified data may be shared for any business purpose.

Privacy Protection

  • Physical, administrative, and technical protections

Data retention:

  • Information retained as long as necessary for business purposes

  • Data may be retained after account closure for legal and operational reasons

Member Rights

Within the SmartAC.com app, members can:

  • Request a copy of personal information collected in the past 12 months by SmartAC.com

  • Update account information with SmartAC.com

  • Opt out of marketing emails from SmartAC.com

Account deletion: Members who wish to delete their account are directed to contact you directly. As their service provider, you manage the customer relationship and can process deletion requests on their behalf.
