Where should I place the Filter sensor with a media filter in the attic?

For homes with media filters installed in the attic next to the indoor unit, place the Filter sensor inside the media filter cabinet using the sensor's built-in magnets.

Media filter examples

Installation Steps

  1. Partially pull out the media filter from the cabinet

  2. Create space between the filter and the cabinet wall

  3. Place the Filter sensor on the cabinet wall downstream of the filter

  4. Use the sensor's built-in magnets to secure it to the metal wall

  5. Ensure the sensor is stable and won't fall when the filter is reinstalled

  6. Push the media filter back into position

What Does "Downstream" Mean?

Downstream means after the filter, in the direction of airflow toward the blower. Air flows from the return duct, through the filter, then to the blower. The sensor should sit between the filter and the blower to measure the pressure drop across the filter as it gets dirty.

Media filter cabinets provide metal walls for secure magnet attachment and remain accessible for sensor maintenance.
