I have an in-unit air filter that is 1" thick, where do I mount the Filter sensor?

For furnaces or air handlers with thin 1" filters located inside the unit, the Filter sensor can be mounted on the side of the cabinet if space allows.

Standard Placement

Location: Inside the air handler/furnace cabinet, on the side wall

Installation Steps

  1. Open the filter access panel

2. Remove the 1" filter

3. Check available space inside the cabinet

4. If space allows, place the Filter sensor on the side wall of the cabinet

5. Use the sensor's built-in magnets to secure it to the metal cabinet surface

6. Ensure the sensor is downstream (after) the filter, between the filter and the blower

7. Reinstall the filter and close the access panel

Space Requirements

The Filter sensor needs:

  • Clearance to fit inside the cabinet (approximately 3" x 3" x 1")

  • Space that doesn't interfere with filter insertion or removal

  • Metal surface for magnet attachment

  • Position downstream of the filter

If Space is Limited

Problem: The filter access slot doesn't have enough clearance for the Filter sensor body.

Solution: Use the Filter Sensor Accessory with remote sensor cable. The accessory allows the sensor body to be mounted outside the cabinet while a pin extends through the filter to measure pressure inside.
