I have a vertical configuration indoor unit, with no exposed drain pan.  Where should the leak sensor be placed?

For vertical configuration indoor units without an exposed drain pan, install the Water Sensor on the floor at the base of the furnace cabinet.

Why This Location Works

If both the primary and secondary drain lines become clogged, water will overflow from the air handler and leak out at the base of the unit. The Water Sensor at this location detects the water and triggers an alert before significant damage occurs.

Installation Tips

  • Position the sensor where water would naturally flow or pool at the base of the cabinet

  • Ensure the sensor sits flat with good contact on the floor surface

  • Keep the area clear of debris that might prevent water from reaching the sensor
