macOS Screen Sharing Permissions

A guide to granting screen sharing permissions to Google Chrome

Overview

SmarterProctoring requires permission to share your screen during remote proctoring sessions. During onboarding, you will be prompted to grant Google Chrome screen sharing access.

In this article, you will learn:

  • How to enable screen sharing on macOS (Big Sur and newer)

Enabling screen sharing on macOS

  1. Open System Settings (or System Preferences, depending on the version of macOS running on your Mac).

  2. Go to Privacy & Security > Screen Recording (or Screen & System Audio Recording, depending on the version of macOS running on your Mac).

  3. Ensure Google Chrome is listed in the list of apps allowed to record your screen and that permissions have been enabled.

  4. If prompted, enter your macOS user password and close & reopen Chrome to apply the changes.

  5. Restart onboarding for your exam session within SmarterProctoring.
