Smart Apartments

Features

Community Defaults Permission - To update default settings, users will now need the Community Defaults permission within SmartRent Manager. Community Default settings help site teams save time by applying these settings to all newly created properties. For example, an organization may want to set a specific threshold for all communities, so site teams receive an alert when a device’s battery falls below a certain percentage. This ensures that an organization can create uniformity throughout the communities in their portfolio without adjusting these settings manually, which is time-consuming.

Users still need permission to update specific community default settings, such as tours. Users can only update default settings for the communities to which they are assigned within SmartRent Manager. To update permission for roles:

  1. Select Settings from the top navigation

  2. Click Roles

  3. Select the Role you would like to edit

  4. Scroll to Community Defaults

  5. Check the Update box

Card Banks in SmartRent Manager- Site teams with an Alloy Access or Brivo integration can now assign credentials to specific card banks directly from SmartRent Manager. Site teams use card banks and Facility Codes when creating fobs for staff so they can easily organize access to specific areas of the community. Previously, users could only map FOBs to a default card bank in Alloy Access. This update ensures site teams stay on one platform while keeping staff access organized.

Users with the Create Access permission can follow the instructions below to assign a fob to a card bank in Alloy Access:

  1. Navigate to the Access tab on the left-hand menu

  2. Select Credentials

  3. Click the Create button

  4. Select a Card Bank from the drop-down menu

  5. Enter the Reference ID

Users with the Create Access permission can follow the instructions below to assign a fobto a Facility Code in Brivo:

  1. Navigate to the Access tab on the left-hand menu

  2. Select Credentials

  3. Click the Create Button

  4. Enter the Facility Code that exists in Brivo

  5. Enter the Reference ID

Forgot Password -In an effort to simplify the login experience, users can now reset their password by clicking “Forgot your password?” on the login screen. Clicking this button will send the user an email so that they can reset their password.

Requiring Cloud Bridge Name -To help with onsite work efficiency, we now require users to name cloud bridges. Previously, you could add a new cloud bridge by entering only the serial number from the device; now, we include a required Name Field when setting up a new cloud bridge. This field should be used to detail the location of the cloud bridge. For example, if installing in a telecommunications closet on the 3rd floor of building 12, naming the cloud bridge “Telecom Closet Bldg 12 - Floor 3 Cloud Bridge” would help future servicers locate the device, saving time for all involved.

Resident App

Features

Device Icons Have A Fresh New Look

As part of our ongoing efforts to modernize the look and feel of the app, we’ve updated the device icons. The new illustrative designs are more descriptive and are used on both the dashboard and device management screens, as well as the Activity Feed.

Tampered State Added to Activity Feed - For security purposes, residents want a record of when their motion and contact sensors detect a tamper. The Activity Feed section of the app now displays the date and time of tampering and event resolution (clearing). Note: This is an addition to the Open and Closed states we currently report.

Bug Fixes

Some iOS Residents Not Being Logged Out - On rare occasions, the app did not require iOS users to log back in even when they had met the inactivity threshold for being automatically logged out. Now, users who have been inactive for 15 minutes and do not have Stay Signed In enabled will be required to log back in.

Request Customer Support Button Misdirecting - Previously, tapping on Request Customer Support initiated the In-App Troubleshooting Tool. Now, it shows the screen with various ways to reach the Customer Support Team.

Thermostat Humidity Levels Incorrect In App - At times, the app displayed extreme or negative humidity levels. We have implemented logic that hides any incorrect, abnormal readings that would alarm residents.

Glitch in Thermostat Screen Display - The thermostat screen showed a gray box instead of the setpoint or controls while it processed a resident request. Now the values are visible at all times.

Links to Support Articles Misdirecting - Some link destinations in the App Tour section were incorrect. We have updated the links and residents are now directed to the content they expect.
