SmartRent Manager 12.14.22

Features

Miya’s Law Credential Log Report - In June of this year, Florida enacted a law to strengthen safety measures for residential apartment tenants, designated as “Miya’s Law”. A portion of the law, which goes into effect on January 1, 2023, requires apartment communities to maintain a log accounting for the issuance and return of all key fobs for each unit and establish policies for their issuance, return, and storage. The apartment’s key log will be subject to the Department of Business and Professional Regulation’s annual inspection of apartments to ensure compliance. You can read more about Miya’s Law here.

To make this process seamless for SmartRent clients, we have released a new organization report called “Credential Log Report.” The report tracks the creation and removal of all occupied unit credentials. The report is disabled by default, but can easily be enabled by clicking on the Reports tab in the top navigation bar and toggling on the button next to Credential Log Report.

Please note, the “Credential Created By” field will display “System” for any codes generated by Automated Move Ins or Work Order Syncs.

ResMan Automatic Move-In/Out - We now support automated move-ins/outs for clients with the ResMan integration enabled. This means when certain criteria are met, move-ins/outs will automatically be triggered within SmartRent.

Add Community Access Code to Vendor Work Order Page - Vendors who are assigned to work orders can now view community access credentials within their work order. When a vendor clicks into a work order, they will find the Community Access Code listed under the Work Order Overview section. The access code is based on the credentials assigned to the vendor as displayed on the Credentials tab within the vendor’s profile.

Brivo/Alloy Access - Create Pins for Residents with Existing Fobs - Brivo and Alloy Access clients can now easily assign PIN credentials to residents with existing fobs. Users can navigate to Settings>Integrations>Alloy Access or Brivo> Property Settings and check the box next to Auto-Assign Community PIN. Once this is completed, residents will receive a PIN credential when they move into a property, regardless of if they already have an existing fob credential.

Resident Mobile App

Features

Streamlined Account Registration Process - In order for residents to truly experience a smart home, they must establish a SmartRent account and download the SmartRent App. This process is initiated by clicking on a link in the welcome email. Residents who view the email on their phone rather than their desktop will be sent directly to either the Google Play or Apple App Store to download the SmartRent App. Once downloaded, the resident can register their account and immediately access the app. Residents who view the email on their desktop will follow the existing process of registering their account in the SmartRent Web Portal and switching to their phone to download the app. Bypassing the portal for mobile users will reduce friction points and should result in higher app adoption rates.

Content in the More section of the App Has Been Reorganized - Over the years, features have been dropped into the existing hierarchy of the More menu, making some features difficult to locate. We have reorganized the content to be more intuitive and minimize the number of taps necessary to accomplish various actions. In addition, Log In Settings (Stay Signed In and Biometrics), App Appearance (Dark Mode), and Notifications are all in one place under Account Settings.

Ring Low-Battery Alerts Added - We have added a Ring Low-Battery Alert to the list of available push notifications. Residents can now engage with notifications from their Ring device through our app now instead of directly through Ring. This can be enabled by tapping More > Account Settings.

Note: This was available to iOS users prior to the 3.0 release.

Bug Fixes

Salto Guest Access Creation Accepting Email Addresses - Salto locks can now only issue guest passes via a phone number. This fixes an issue where residents were given the option to send it via email and/or phone number. The copy on the guest creation page no longer mentions email as an option and the field has been removed.

Display Size/Settings Impacting Custom Code Creation - Residents must complete multiple steps to create a custom PIN code. Previously, on phones with smaller screens, the action of zooming in cut off the Continue button, preventing residents from moving forward. The Continue button is now visible regardless of the phone’s size or display settings.

Temperature Units Missing - Previously, the labeling of temperatures as either degrees Fahrenheit or Celsius was missing from the interface. Temperatures can now be reported as either degrees Fahrenheit or degrees Celsius, and are clearly labeled.

Alloy Access

Features

Filtering Members by Phone Number & Access Level - Users can now filter Members by phone number and access level. To filter by phone number users can now input the last four digits of the phone number or the exact match for results. When filtering by access level, users will see a dropdown of all relevant access levels to select from. This greatly improves the process of searching for members within Alloy Access.

Bug Fixes

No Longer Add Same Door to Access Levels - Previously, a user could add the same door to an Access level multiple times on different schedules. With this fix a door can only be added once. As the animation shows here, previously entered doors will no longer show up in the drop down as an option to choose from.

Self-Guided Tours

Features

Captcha v3 - We have added reCAPTCHA v3 to the Self-Guided Tour workflow, which helps prevent automated attacks from bots and spammers by verifying the end user is a real person. This feature does not change the user experience and simply runs in the background.

Blocking VoIP Phone Numbers - We now have a setting that allows clients to prevent VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) phone numbers from being used to schedule a Self-Guided Tour. To disable VoIP phone numbers, go to SmartRent Manager (at Organization level), Settings → Tours → turn off “Allow VoIP Phone Numbers for Tours” toggle.
