SmartRent Manager 7.13.22
Features
Zendesk SSO - We are excited to announce that the new Zendesk is officially launching next week on Wednesday, July 20, making it easier for you and your residents to access SmartRent’s help articles and support materials! The latest iteration of Zendesk is designed with a new SmartRent theme and will serve as a robust platform that will help answer all of your SmartRent questions. Zendesk will feature over 300 newly published articles as well as integration and troubleshooting information.
You and your residents will now log in to Zendesk through a gated SSO. You will continue to log in with your SmartRent Manager credentials, while residents can access Zendesk with their SmartRent Resident login (or directly from the app).
Residents who do not have access to a SmartRent account will still be able to access help articles through the smartrent.com/support link. Please note that residents must have the latest version of their app updated in order to access the new Zendesk.
We plan to continue to expand and build out Zendesk so that you will always have access to one easy-to-use, robust platform for any and all SmartRent-related questions.
Device Error Message - We have improved device error messages to provide more direction to installers so they can quickly troubleshoot when pairing devices. When an error message is displayed, the installer will see a “Learn Why” button next to the message. If the installer selects this button, they will see a description of the error with details on resolving the issue. This initiative focuses on the most common device pairing issues, and we will continue to improve the clarity of all error messages. This was released on June 29, 2022.
Organizational Reports - Spread Out Processing - Organizational Level Reports will sync between 1:00 AM - 4:00 AM MST. Previously, all reports would run at 3:00 AM MST. By spreading these reports out, we will reduce any potential performance issues. You can view what time your reports are populated by viewing the green banner on the reports tab. This was released on June 29, 2022.
Community Access - Staff BLE Access in SmartRent Manager - SmartRent Manager users at communities with the Alloy Access integration can now generate their own BLE credentials to lock and unlock community access devices. Users will need View Access and Update Access permissions to generate these credentials. This means site team members will no longer need to contact Alloy Access Support to create a BLE credential. The community must have Alloy Access enabled. To generate a BLE credential, site teams should:
Navigate to the Access tab on the left-hand menu
Select the Create button in the upper right of the screen
Click Generate BLE from the side drawer menu
The user will receive an Alloy Pass credential via text using the provided phone number in SmartRent Manager
Once Generate BLE is selected, clients will be taken back to the credentials page, where they’ll see a new credential listed in the table.
Device Report Updates - We have updated the existing device report to include the following columns:
Unit Status
Hub Serial Number
Region
Humidity Percentage
Initial Pair Date
If your report is not customized, you will see these new columns on the far right at the end of the report. These new columns will not be added if your reports are customized.
Resident Mobile 3.0
Features
Resident Mobile 3.0 - On Wednesday, July 20, we will release SmartRent Resident Mobile App 3.0. It is packed with new features and improvements to enhance residents’ smart home experience. We have improved app stability, refreshed the login screen, added fun device animations, improved the design of thermostats, streamlined how Schedules are created, and even added support for dark mode.
Please note that some residents’ SmartRent App will update automatically after release, while others may need to update the app manually. This will depend on their current mobile device settings. Residents’ usernames and passwords will remain the same through the update.
Be on the lookout for detailed release notes next week when 3.0 officially launches!
