SmartRent 1.98.0
Hero Labs Sonic (United Kingdom only) - We are thrilled to announce the integration of Hero Labs’ Sonic into the SmartRent platform. By using its ultrasonic sensors and data models to determine if a leak has occurred in a unit, Sonic introduces a whole new level of asset protection for organizations and their residents. An automatic work order is generated when a leak is detected, and the water valve automatically shuts off. Sonic will be rolled out as a pilot program at launch.
International Phone Numbers - (United Kingdom only) - The SmartRent platform is now able to support international phone numbers. This means clients will be able to manually add or sync international phone numbers from their property management system into the SmartRent platform. As SmartRent expands, this allows our U.K.-based clients and their residents to receive SMS alerts for activities such as welcome emails, resident guest codes, and scheduled tours.
Marketplace Inquiry Updates - This update replaces the current Order A SightMap button with a Contact Sales button. The ability to click this button is now limited to organizational administrators only. All other users will see the Marketplace overview and the SightMap detail page, but will not see a button.
SmartRent Resident Mobile 2.23 / Alloy SmartHome 1.15
Features
Improved Marketplace Experience - The in-app Marketplace is a way for residents to enhance their smart home by integrating with other common smart technology, such as Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Ring. The initial launch of Marketplace was very basic: residents would tap on a tile and immediately be asked to set up the integration. This caused hesitation for residents as they didn’t fully understand what the integration was or the benefits. To address this, we have added a pop-up that will explain the value before initiating the integration.
Swipe-Down Refresh Feature Now Active (Android) - Android device users are accustomed to swiping down on their phone screen to refresh a page, and previously, this was not a capability within the SmartRent App. Now, residents can interact with our app in a manner consistent with others installed on their phones for a better user experience.
Helpful Alerts Added To the Recurring Guest Access Creation Process (Android) - Creating a Recurring Guest Access Pass requires the resident to provide the guest’s name, email address/phone number, and the days and times the access code will need to be active. We have added a pop-up that alerts the resident of any of this missing information before allowing them to finalize and issue the recurring access code.
Prompts for Reviews Are More Strategic (iOS) - Residents are prompted to review our app so we can gain insights into what they like about the app and where we can improve. We have adjusted the time period for the review prompt so we now wait until at least 3 days after they have downloaded the app and have interacted with it (like repeated use of door locks or creating a schedule). We will not prompt them more than once in 30 days. Please note this was rolled out for Android in a previous release.
Ring “Ding” Events have been renamed to “Ring” events (iOS) - Residents with Ring devices connected to their SmartRent accounts were getting confused by seeing “Ding” events in their Activity Feed. They were not associating these events with their Ring devices. We have renamed the events to “Ring” to provide better clarity on the source of activity. Please note this was rolled out for Android in a previous release.
Bug Fixes
Android
Home Security Icon Disappears On Dashboard - This fixes an issue where the Home Security icon would disappear after navigating to a different screen within the app. Residents would have to refresh to make it reappear. The Home Security icon is now always visible on the dashboard. Note: This is only applicable to communities that have enabled Self-Monitoring Security.
Back Button Replaced By Menu Button After Temporarily Leaving the App - The screen to create guest access codes should have a back button in the top left corner so residents can return to their My Access screen. This fixes an issue where the back button would be replaced by the menu button (hamburger menu) when the resident returned to the app after temporarily closing it. Now, the top left corner of the create guest access codes screen always has a back button.
“Delete This Scene” Button Blocked On Some Android Devices - This fixes an issue where the Android navigation bar was overlapping with the “Delete This Scene” button on certain Android devices, making it difficult to tap. Adjustments have been made to the UI so the button is now easily accessible.
Device Activity Filter Being Overridden By the Activity Feed Filter - This fixes an issue where any filter applied to the home-level Activity Feed was also being applied to the device-level Activity Feed. The resident had to remove the filter to see a complete history of their device activity. The device Activity Feed now defaults to unfiltered.
Scene Edits Not Saving - This fixes an issue where any edits to existing scenes were not being saved. This now works as intended.
Running A Scene From The Main Dashboard After Editing It
Causes A Stuck Screen - This fixes an issue where the splash screen acknowledging what device actions were in a Scene would get stuck if the Scene was recently edited. The splash screen now appears long enough for the resident to review and then returns the user to the dashboard.
Device Store Missing From Marketplace - This fixes an issue where the Device Store tile was not appearing in the Marketplace after a community enabled it. Now, the tile will appear after being enabled.
iOS
Ring Devices Still Showing After Unlinking Ring Account - This fixes an issue where if a resident unlinked their Ring account in the Resident Web Portal, the Ring device tile(s) continued to display on the app dashboard until the app was closed completely. The tile(s) will no longer be visible. Note: Ring devices can only be unlinked using the Resident Web Portal. It can not be done using the SmartRent App.
Self-Guided Tours 2.58
Features
Tour Dashboards 2.0 - We have added the capability to filter data on the Tours Dashboard through three new options, providing more actionable data and insight into performance. The three filters are:
Date Range - Choose between the last 7 days, 30 days, 60 days, or 12 months
Region - Choose between one, multiple, or all regions
Community - Choose between one, multiple, or all properties
Prospect SMS Opt-in Agreement - Our updated SMS Opt-in Workflow is now approved by Twilio, allowing for all SMS messaging to send properly to prospects. Previously, phone carriers were blocking some of the messages due to an unapproved phone number opt-in workflow. The new workflow is as follows:
Unit Selection
Date & Time Selection
Contact Information (Phone Number Opt-in Authentication)
Prospect must agree to receive authentication code from SmartRent
4. Verify Mobile Number
Tours Agreement (New)
All SmartRent and Self-Guided Tour related agreements now exist on this page
Contact Information (i.e. Prospect Information)
The prospect will select “Yes, send me tour-related text messages” to opt-in to receive text notifications from SmartRent. The opt-in option defaults to “No, you’ll receive an email for all correspondence.”
Alloy Parking 1.17
Features
Garage & Floor Access Control 1.0 - Currently, community managers who maintain mixed-use commercial/residential communities and gated guest parking spots have no way to let non-invited guests retrieve their vehicle when using pay-to-park guest spaces, presenting an obstacle for seamless guest parking. As a result, we’ve added the ability for Alloy Parking to integrate with Alloy Access.
This integration provides parking guests with secure credentials to return to the garage or gated parking space through a door equipped with Alloy Access when they are ready to
pick up their vehicle. When the guest checks-in, they are sent a link within their SMS check-in that redirects to the checked-in screen with the PIN code in Guest Parking Web (GPW). This access is given through a one-time PIN code to the registered guest and can be limited by community managers who define which gated parking areas guests can access. For example, a community manager may choose to only allow access to parking sections with guest parking spaces.
