Suspicious Activity, Xpoint Geolocation, and Account Restrictions Explained

Explains why accounts get flagged for suspicious activity, what Xpoint geolocation is, how device sharing is detected, and how to appeal account restrictions on Splash Sports.

Why was my account flagged for suspicious activity?

Splash Sports uses automated systems to monitor account activity and protect the integrity of our contests. Your account may be flagged for review if our systems detect patterns that indicate a potential violation of our Terms of Service, including:

  • Rapid or unusual changes in your GPS or IP location

  • Use of a VPN or other location-masking tools

  • Device sharing with other Splash accounts (detected via Xpoint)

  • Multiple accounts associated with the same identity

  • Logging in from a restricted state or jurisdiction

If your account is restricted, you will typically receive an email from our team. Please reach out to us at support@splashsports.com so we can investigate and assist.

What is Xpoint and why is Splash using it?

Xpoint is a geolocation and compliance technology provider that Splash Sports uses to verify that players are physically located in jurisdictions where real-money contests are legal. Xpoint helps us ensure regulatory compliance and protect the fairness of our platform.

Xpoint uses a combination of GPS, Wi-Fi, and IP address data to determine your location. It does not store personal data beyond what is required for compliance purposes.

I got a message about "device sharing" — what does this mean?

Splash Sports requires one account per person and does not allow accounts to be shared. If multiple Splash accounts are being accessed from the same device — for example, if two family members both play on the same phone — this can trigger a device-sharing flag.

If you believe this flag is in error (e.g., you and a family member both legitimately use the same device but have separate accounts), contact us at support@splashsports.com and we'll review the situation.

I'm in a legal state but my account keeps getting restricted — why?

Even if you live in a legal state, your account may still be temporarily restricted if:

  • Our system detects a rapid change in your location (e.g., your GPS jumped from one state to another quickly).

  • You're using a VPN, ad blocker, or other tool that masks your true location.

  • Your device's location services are disabled or inaccurate.

To resolve location-related restrictions:

  • Disable any VPN or location-masking software.

  • Enable precise location services for the Splash Sports app and browser.

  • Wait at least 1 hour before trying to join contests again.

  • Try using a different device or an open (unsecured) Wi-Fi network.

If the problem persists, contact support@splashsports.com.

I was self-excluded in one state — can I still use Splash Sports?

In many cases, yes. Self-exclusion in one state does not automatically bar you from all Splash Sports contests. However, you are responsible for compliance with the rules specific to your state. If you are unsure whether you are eligible to participate, please consult the relevant state gaming regulations or contact us for guidance.

How do I appeal a restriction or flag on my account?

If you believe your account was restricted in error, contact our support team at support@splashsports.com with:

  • Your account email address

  • A description of the issue and when it started

  • Any relevant context (e.g., you recently traveled, you share a device with a family member, etc.)

Our team reviews appeals and will respond as quickly as possible.
