Running a Splash-managed NHL Player Survivor contest takes just a few minutes. Here's how to set one up and what settings you can configure.
Before You Start
Your account must be verified (KYC) to run a real-money contest
You must be in an eligible state — check the state availability map
Finalize settings before sending invites — some cannot be changed after entries are submitted
How to Create the Contest
Log in at app.splashsports.com
Go to the Commissioner tab and click Create Contest
Select NHL as the sport
Choose NHL Player Survivor as the format
Select "Splash handles payments" — this creates a real-money contest
Configure your settings (see below)
Click Create Contest — you'll receive a shareable invite link immediately
Key Settings to Configure
Entry Fee & Contest Size
Set the per-entry fee and your expected number of participants. If the contest doesn't reach its projected size, the prize pool automatically adjusts. Set your size 20–30% higher than your expected group to leave room.
Entry Deadline
Set the cutoff date for new participants to join. After this deadline, no new entries can be added — not even by Splash Sports.
Pick Deadline
Choose when picks lock each slate. The default is when the first game of the slate starts. This can be edited for the following week while the contest is live.
Entry Lives
Optionally give entries more than one chance. With 2 lives, an entry can survive one scoreless slate before being eliminated on the second loss.
Player Reuse Limit
Control whether players can be picked more than once across slates. Limiting reuse adds strategy and difficulty.
Auto-Picks
Enable this so entries that miss the deadline receive an automatic pick instead of being immediately eliminated. You can set a maximum number of auto-picks per entry.
Commissioner Rewards
Opt in to earn 5% of the rake from your contest. Splash deducts 7.5% for payment processing and pays you 5% automatically after the contest concludes.
Inviting Your Members
Once the contest is live, go to Commissioner tab → Active → Manage → Invites Manager to copy and share your invite link. Members must join using the link — commissioners cannot manually add entries.
