Quick Steps
Update Your Basic Information (Job Title, Secondary Job Title, Software, and Specialties)
1. Go to Your Profile Page
In the top right-hand corner of your screen, click your profile photo (this may currently be a default avatar containing some or all of your initials). Then choose "View Profile."
2. Add a Professional Photo
Adding a professional photo is more important than you might think! It's proven that people would rather collaborate/communicate with individuals who display a professional photo over a default avatar. Associating your name with a friendly face (rather than a mystery internet account) kicks off the beginning of subconscious trust. Fascinating, right?!
Click on your default photo, and then choose a file from your device (laptop / iPad / mobile) to upload. Then crop and save your new photo.
3. Update Your Basic Information
This step is already done after signing up for Stenovate, but you can change your job title, secondary job title(s), software, or specialties at any time by clicking on the pencil icon in the top right-hand corner of the basic information block.
Update any of the fields, and then click Save Changes.
4. Add an "About" Section (Bio)
Share details about the knowledge, skills, and certifications you have. Click the pencil icon in the About section and fill in the details.
Use any of the following bulletpoints to write yourself a welcoming bio:
Type of work you typically cover (proceeding types, turnaround time, specialties)
Certifications you've obtained (RPR, RMR, CRR, State CSR, etc.)
Style guides you follow (MWW, Morson's, etc.)
Any particular proclivities (medical, expert witnesses, car accidents / personal injury, etc.)
Any particular expectations for your scopist or proofreader that anyone considering working with you should make note of or be aware of
Friendly information you'd like to share such as being a parent, hobbies, organizations (like being on a state association committee), etc.
5. Create a Reporter Preference Sheet
If you don't have a reporter preference sheet handy, don't worry. Stenovate has created an in-depth, 100-question quiz that covers everything scopists and proofreaders need to know to start collaborating with you.
While we all know there are hard-and-fast grammar and punctuation rules for transcripts, there are also many preferences that are not so black and white.
When working with scopists and proofreaders, itβs important to communicate your grammar, punctuation, and style preferences, so you always come out with a clean, consistent transcript.
How to Get Your Ultimate Preference Sheet

Immediately receive your custom-built preference sheet via email.
Share with your scopists and proofreaders.
Get the consistency you crave. π
6. Upload Your Preference Sheet to Your Profile
Once you have your preference sheet saved to your computer, you can upload it to your Stenovate profile.
πͺ Uploading your preference sheet eliminates the need to locate and share your preference sheet with each new scopist or proofreader that you work with, saving you time and energy. Ahhhhhh.... π
Once you've uploaded your preference sheet, any scopist or proofreader members can download your preference sheet from your profile.
If you use Stenovate's Ultimate Preference Sheet Quiz to create your customized preference sheet, it is delivered to you in the form of a Word document, so you can add notes or edit it at any time. Just use the trash icon to delete and re-upload your most recent version.
Once your profile is ready to go, you're ready for the REAL Stenovate magic. πͺ Check out the guides below to continue the Stenovate journey.
