Sometimes, the backup file can become incorrect for some reason. The team did their best to look into this with our partners to find the reasons and eliminate such cases.
Backup files are typically named StoboxBackupKeys.json and may include a numeric suffix, e.g., StoboxBackupKeys (1). They are saved in the .json format.
However, if you find the platform does not work properly or you can't access your Stobox 4 account, contact us, and our technical team will check and inform you about your valid backup file's passphrase ID to help you.
You will search for StoboxBackupKeys files on all your devices and open each of them to find the one with a text editor app until you find the one that has exactly the same passphraseID that the technical team sent you.
These files are generally in .json format and named StoboxBackupKeys with possible numeric suffixes. To find the passphrase ID, open the file using a text editor and look for a specific line: "passphraseId": "[Your Passphrase ID]". Make sure the passphrase ID matches exactly.
The next step is the recovery, where you will use your valid file to regenerate the backup file. And that new file will be your one and only valid backup.
See the process below.
After entering your email and password, you will see the picture below.
The big note says: Upload your backup file to restore your MPC wallet keys.
This will replace all current keys!
Click on the Upload backup file button and select the file you found.
The system starts the recovery process. It matches your private key and ensures that you are the owner.
After the recovery, the system asks to backup the new keys.
Again, the note informs: If you lose your MPC keys, we won’t be able to assist – recovery isn’t possible.

Additional Step: Prepare Tokens for Withdrawal. If you plan to withdraw tokens after restoring access, ensure you have sufficient network tokens to cover the gas fees. Without these, withdrawals may not be processed successfully.
