Important:
Meeting recording is only available on the computer version.
If you recently updated to macOS Sequoia, be sure to select "Allow" for Google Chrome's permissions when the system prompts you.
On your computer, open Google Meet and click Start or Join.
At the bottom right, click Activities > Recording.
To record the meeting captions, select a language.
In some cases, if the recording is played back in Google Drive, captions may only be generated a few hours after the file is ready.
Click Start recording.
In the pop-up window, click Start.
Wait for the recording to start. Participants are notified when the recording starts or stops.
A meeting can be recorded for up to 8 hours; after 8 hours, recording stops automatically.
To stop recording, click Activities > Recording > Stop recording.
In the pop-up window, click Stop recording.
Tip:Recording stops automatically once everyone leaves the meeting.
The meeting organizer and the person who recorded the meeting both receive an email with a link to the recording.
Recordings are saved to the meeting organizer's My Drive > Meet Recordings folder
Use Google Drive
Recordings are saved to the meeting host's My Drive > Meet Recordings folder. However, if the host changes, or if the meeting does not take place at its originally scheduled calendar time, the recording link is sent to the original event creator.
To share a recording:
Select the file you want to share, then click Share.
Or, click Link > paste the link into an email or chat message.
For the best viewing experience, download the recording and play it on your computer:
Select the file you want to download, then click More > Download.
Double-click the downloaded file to play it.
To play it in Drive, simply double-click the recording. You will see "Still processing" until the file is ready to view online.
To add a recording to My Drive, select the file and click Add to My Drive.
Email link
The meeting host and the person who recorded the meeting both receive an email with a link to the recording.
Click the link in the email and wait for the recording to open.
Select an option:
To play the recording, click Play.
To share the recording, click More > Share, enter user names or email addresses, then click Done.
Tip: You can also copy and share the link.
