Beyond subtitles, transcripts, and meeting summaries, what other AI features does Subanana offer? How do minute credits and plan changes work?

Written by Chloe

Beyond its core speech-to-text features (subtitle generation, transcripts, AI meeting summaries, and live caption translation), Subanana also offers a set of advanced AI-powered features. This article explains those features, along with how minute credits and plan changes work.

Advanced AI capabilities on paid plans

All paid plans (Lite / Pro / Max) include advanced AI capabilities, such as automatic typo/error correction, an optional high-accuracy transcription engine, and the Glossary. When creating a project, the following options are also available:

  • High-accuracy transcription engine: a higher-accuracy model you can select when creating a project. Compared with the standard engine, it drops and misrecognizes fewer words, and it is better suited to audio with musical intros, strong background noise, or voices close in volume to the background. This engine counts minutes at 1.5 times the video length.

  • Glossary: preload proper nouns — company names, people's names, brands, products, and so on — for the AI to prioritize during transcription, reducing the time spent on line-by-line fixes later. Open it via "Glossary" in the left-hand menu; you can add terms one by one, import from Excel/CSV, or extract them from documents (PDF, DOCX, etc.). The workspace glossary applies automatically to all projects, and you can also create custom lists to select as needed when creating a project. Real-time transcription and translation (Live) supports custom glossaries as well.

In addition, meeting mode provides AI meeting summaries and chapter breakdowns; transcript and meeting modes also automatically organize continuous speech into paragraphs and restore punctuation for easier reading. Subtitle, transcript, and meeting modes all support translation into more than 80 languages, including English, Japanese, and Korean.

How are minute credits counted?

  • Minutes are counted by the total length of the uploaded file (for example, a 30-minute recording = 30 minutes used).

  • Minutes are deducted per processing task, based on the file length; adding multiple translation languages within the same task does not multiply the deduction.

  • With the high-accuracy transcription engine, the task is counted at 1.5 times the video length.

  • If you run out of minutes: upgrade to a higher plan, or purchase extra minutes to get more credits.

The minute allowances for each plan are: Lite, 60 minutes per month (720 minutes per year on the annual plan); Pro, 180 minutes per month (2,160 minutes per year on the annual plan); Max, 600 minutes per month (7,200 minutes per year on the annual plan). The Max plan currently includes limited-time free bonus minutes on top of its base allowance (+120 minutes monthly, +1,440 minutes on the annual plan), which are already counted in the effective 600 minutes per month / 7,200 minutes per year above. Annual plans grant the whole year's minutes up front when the subscription starts — you can use them at any time within the 1-year validity period, and they reset on each yearly renewal date. Monthly plans grant each month's allowance month by month, resetting on your monthly renewal date; unused minutes from the current month do not carry over to the next month.

Can I buy extra minutes?

Yes. Once your plan's minutes are used up, you can buy one-time extra minutes (top-up packs) within your current plan. The price of extra minutes depends on your plan; the actual amount for your account is shown in the app at the time of purchase, and you are only charged after you confirm — please go by the amount shown on the purchase page. Purchased extra minutes have no billing-cycle expiry and remain available until they are used up.

How do plan changes work?

  • Upgrades take effect immediately; downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing cycle.

  • Upgrades use a "stack and inherit" mechanism: any unused minutes from your old plan carry over to the new plan, and you gain the new plan's advanced features. Simply subscribe to the new plan directly — the system handles the carry-over automatically, with no need to wait for the current cycle to end and no double charging.

If you need larger volumes or corporate billing arrangements, ask us about Enterprise, which uses custom pricing — feel free to contact us at hello@subanana.com. (A Team plan is coming soon; you can sign up for the waitlist.)

How do I check my current plan and minute balance?

  • To check your remaining minutes: click your avatar at the top of the page → "Settings" → "Subscription" → "Usage" to see your remaining transcription minutes, usage limit, and reset date.

  • To check your plan and billing: click your avatar at the top of the page → "Billing" to see your current subscription and payment history. To update your payment method or billing details, open "Manage payment methods and details" on that page to go to the Stripe payment management page.
