How to Create a Roofing Insurance Proposal Using the New Flow?

Why is it important?

The new Roofing Insurance proposal flow takes an insurance roofing job from inspection and roof reports through Good / Better / Best packages to a polished homeowner proposal, all in SubcontractorHub. Claim details are captured once and carry forward to the project, where you can track claim funds instead of using spreadsheets or outside systems.

What will you need?

  • Permission to create roofing proposals.

  • The homeowner’s claim information: insurance carrier, policy number, type of loss, date of loss, deductible, claim number (if a claim has been filed), and mortgage company (if the home has a mortgage).

  • Inspection photos and notes for the roof.

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1: Click “New Proposal”, select “Roof”, then choose “Insurance”.

Step 2: Enter the property Address, then select the Installer and continue through the guided steps.

Step 3: On the Insurance step, enter the homeowner’s insurance claim information. No field is required, so you can save what you know now and fill in the rest later.

Under Claim information:

a. Carrier: select the homeowner’s insurance company from the dropdown.

b. Policy Number: type the homeowner’s policy number.

c. Loss Type: select the type of damage (for example Hail, Hail & wind, Fire / smoke, Ice dam, Lightning, or Snow / ice load).

d. Date of Loss: pick the date the damage happened from the calendar.

e. Deductible: enter the homeowner’s deductible in dollars.

f. Claim Filed?: turn the toggle to Yes if the homeowner has already filed a claim, then enter the Claim Number. Leave it on No if the claim hasn’t been filed yet.

g. Claim Notes: add anything the adjuster or office should know.

Under Mortgage:

h. Is there a mortgage?: turn the toggle to Yes if the home has a mortgage, then enter the Mortgage Company.

Click “Save claim” to save the claim information and continue to the next step.

Step 4: On the “Inspection” step, add inspection photos and notes for the roof.

Step 5: Add the roof report for measurements.

Step 6: Select the “Good / Better / Best” roofing packages to present to the homeowner.

Step 7: Complete the remaining steps through to the proposal and present it to the

homeowner.

Step 8: Once the project is created, open the project’s claim overview to track claim money and funding.

Real Life Scenario

After a hailstorm, a roofer inspects a home and snaps photos of the damage. Back in SubcontractorHub, they start an Insurance roof proposal, upload the photos and notes, enter the carrier, policy number, loss type (Hail), date of loss, deductible, and claim number, and present three package options. When the homeowner signs, the claim details carry to the project, where the office tracks incoming claim funds.

Pro Tip

Gather the full claim details from the homeowner before you start. Entering them once in the proposal saves your office team from re-entering them on the project.

Troubleshooting

Problem: I don’t see the Insurance option

Make sure you selected the Roof job type after clicking New Proposal, then refresh the page. If it still doesn’t appear, contact your Customer Experience Manager (CXM).

Problem: Claim details are missing on the project

Check that the Insurance step was completed in the proposal before the project was created.

Problem: What happens to my existing roofing data?

Existing data is preserved. The new flow applies to new insurance proposals.

Problem: I can’t save the Insurance step

If Claim Filed? is set to Yes, the Claim Number is required. If Is there a mortgage? is set to Yes, the Mortgage Company is required. Fill in the field or switch the toggle back to No, then click Save claim.
