How to Sync Your Calendar with TalkingPoints

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Audience: Teachers
Platform: TalkingPoints Web (view-only on TalkingPoints Mobile)

What this feature helps you do

TalkingPoints now lets you create and manage calendar sign-up events directly in the platform! This makes it easy to schedule in-person meetings with families—without the hassle of using separate tools or manually tracking sign-ups.

You can sync your work calendar with TalkingPoints, see your availability, and share sign-up links with families—all in one place.

📆 Sync your calendar with TalkingPoints

To create events, you'll need to sync at least one calendar.

Add a calendar

  1. Go to the Calendar page in the left-hand navigation bar

  2. Click Sync calendar.

  3. Select Add calendar account. You'll be surfaced a pop-up from the third-party tool TalkingPoints uses to facilitate calendar syncing, called Cronofy.

  4. Choose your calendar provider (like Google, Office 365, or Outlook.com).

  5. Follow the steps to log in and connect your calendar.

  6. Once synced, you'll see your calendar synced within the TalkingPoints platform.

  7. If you don't see your calendar sync after following the above steps, please refresh the page.

Tip: If your school uses Microsoft, you’ll likely use the Office 365 option as it's more frequently used as a business calendar option.

Once synced, TalkingPoints can read your availability and help you schedule events during open times with families.

💡 Did you follow all the steps above and you're not seeing your Calendar data? Please be sure to refresh the page, and your calendar data should appear.

Remove a calendar

If you want to stop syncing a calendar:

  1. Go to the Calendar page on the left-hand navigation

  2. Click Sync calendar.

  3. Select Edit accounts.

  4. Click the X next to the calendar you want to remove.

There’s no warning before removal, but don’t worry—your events stay in your own calendar and you can always re-sync later if needed.

Important things to know

  • You can sync more than one calendar (e.g., school and personal).

  • Events you create in TalkingPoints will only be added to the first calendar you sync.

  • Sign-up times will consider all synced calendars.

  • No one else can see your calendar details in TalkingPoints, only the times you've made available.

  • Families cannot see your personal calendar even thought it's synced with TalkingPoints.
