What Are Family Check-In Messages?

Updated over a week ago

A Quick Look

Sometimes, your child’s teacher may send a short message just to check in or share a thought based on what’s happening during the school year. These are called Family Check-In messages—and they’re all about keeping the connection strong between home and school 🏫💬

Why Am I Getting This Message?

Your child’s teacher cares about building a strong partnership with you. These messages are meant to:

  • Start helpful conversations

  • Share seasonal tips or reminders

  • Ask questions about how your child is doing at home

  • Invite your thoughts, ideas, or updates

You don’t need to wait for a problem to hear from the teacher—Family Check-Ins are all about open, ongoing communication.

What Might the Messages Say?

Each Family Check-In is unique, but here are a few examples of what they might include:

  • “We’re settling into fall! What’s something your child is proud of this month?”

  • “Back-to-school can be a big transition. Let me know how it’s going at home.”

  • “What helps your child feel excited to learn this time of year?”

Some messages may be short and sweet. Others might include more info or invite you to reply.

Do I Need to Respond?

You’re always welcome to respond—but it’s not required.

Your reply can help your child’s teacher understand what’s going well at home, any concerns you have, or just give a quick thumbs-up to show you’re receiving the messages 👍
