Step 1: Complete Your Planning Form
If you haven’t already, fill out the BTS planning form. Check your email for a recent communication from your Partner Success Manager or reach out to partnersupport@talkingpts.org for access.
This form lets our team set up the right pause and resume timing for your account.
Step 2: Know Your Global Pause Dates
API Partners: Your sync will automatically pause on June 12 and resume on July 30. If these dates don’t work for your calendar, indicate this in your planning form.
File-Sharing Partners: The Global Pause does not apply to your integration. See Summer School: File-Sharing Partners for guidance.
Step 3: Prepare Your SIS
Before your data resumes syncing, make sure your SIS is ready:
If you use PowerSchool: TalkingPoints Support must enable “Fetch Sections for the Next School Year” to ensure upcoming sections have time to sync prior to your first day of school. Please be sure to allow at least 72 hours for changes to appear in your site after your selected resume date.
If you use Infinite Campus: Do not make configuration changes while IC is actively rolling over — wait until rollover is complete before resuming data sends
All partners: Confirm your enrollment, section, and teacher data is accurate in your SIS before your 26-27 data is shared with TalkingPoints.
Step 4: Review TalkingPoints Before Your First Day
A few days before school starts:
Log in and confirm rosters look correct
Check that the right schools and grades are visible
If anything looks off, contact partnersupport@talkingpts.org right away — don’t wait until the first day
What Is a Circuit Break?
When a large volume of records changes in a single overnight sync — common during back-to-school as your SIS processes term changes, new enrollments, and section updates — TalkingPoints may automatically pause the sync for review. This is called a circuit break and is a normal part of the BTS cycle.
We manage this for you.
When a Circuit Break occurs, our team reviews the changes before approving them to sync. Because of this, your data may take an additional day or so to update compared to its usual overnight schedule — this is expected, not a sign of a problem.
Occasionally we’ll reach out to confirm that a large set of changes matches something you expected in your SIS. The faster you can respond, the faster we can clear it.
See Understanding Circuit Breaks in TalkingPoints Connector for a full explanation.
If your data hasn’t updated and it’s been more than two business days, contact partnersupport@talkingpts.org.
