This article is for partners whose TalkingPoints Connector syncs data via a live API connection. If your district shares data solely via automated CSVs via SFTP, see Preparing TalkingPoints Connector for the End of the School Year (CSV SFTP Partners) instead.
As the school year wraps up, there are a few things to keep in mind to make sure your TalkingPoints data stays accurate and your transition to summer goes smoothly.
What Happens at the End of the School Year
If your district uses TalkingPoints Connector (TPC) to sync data via an API connection, your data continues to sync nightly unless you’ve requested a custom pause. As your SIS begins processing end-of-year changes — grade promotions, student exits, new enrollments — those changes will flow into TalkingPoints.
This is expected behavior, but it’s a good time to review a few settings.
Recommended Steps Before Your Last Day of School
Review your visibility settings. If you don’t want staff to see transitional or incomplete data during the summer, you can turn off data visibility in TalkingPoints. For more information, see Turn off Visibility for Family Contacts
Know your Global Pause dates. TalkingPoints implements a Global Pause for all TPC API partners from June 12 – July 30, 2026. During this window, data syncing is paused automatically. You don’t need to do anything — but if these dates don’t work for your calendar, complete this form to request custom dates (check your email for a recent communication from your Partner Success Manager or reach out to partnersupport@talkingpts.org for access to the link).

What Is a Circuit Break?
When a large number of records change in a single sync — which is common at year-end — TalkingPoints may trigger a circuit break. This is a protective measure that pauses the sync until the changes are reviewed and approved.
