You can control whether lesson colors in the calendar reflect the assigned teacher. This makes it easier to visually identify who is teaching each lesson. You can also set or update a teacher’s color from their profile.

Enable teacher-based lesson colors

Follow these steps to enable the new calendar behaviour:

  1. Go to School settings.

  2. Click the Calendar tab.

  3. Find the option Color-code calendar lessons by teacher

  4. Toggle the setting to On.

When enabled, all lessons in the calendar will automatically use the assigned teacher’s background color.

Update a teacher’s background color

You can customise each teacher’s color so it displays correctly in the calendar.

  1. Go to Teachers.

  2. Click on a teacher’s name to open the profile.

  3. Select Edit.

  4. Look for the Select color option.

  5. Choose a color using the color picker.

  6. Click Save.

The updated color will now appear anywhere the teacher is shown in the calendar.

Tips

  • When this setting is turned on, ensure all teachers have a color assigned. This ensure the calendar display lessons in the right color.

  • Choose contrasting colors for teachers who frequently teach at the same time.

  • You can update colors anytime without affecting existing lessons.

Troubleshooting

The lesson colors didn’t change in the calendar.

  • Make sure the calendar setting is switched to On.

  • Refresh the calendar page after updating teacher colors.

Two teachers look very similar in the calendar.

  • Edit either teacher and select a more distinct background colour.

Summary

You can now control lesson colours by linking them to each teacher’s background colour, helping you read the calendar more quickly.
