Teachers log into the same Teach 'n Go application as admins and staff — there is no separate teacher portal. What a teacher sees is the normal interface with permissions applied. This article explains how to set a teacher up and what they can do once they're in.
Your school may use different names for teachers, students and classes. If you don't see a menu item described below, ask your admin to check your permissions.
Giving a teacher access
Open the teacher's profile.
Turn on the Access to [school] portal toggle.
Click Invite to portal. This sends the teacher an email (or lets you print an invitation) containing a login code.
The teacher registers using that code, which links their account to the school.
Once they've logged in, the teacher's profile shows their last login date, username, a password reset option, and a "Delete portal account" option.
Two things control what a teacher sees
Admins often confuse these — it's worth understanding both.
1. Per-action permissions — set on the teacher profile's Permissions tab. Each permission is denied by default; you grant only what that teacher needs. For a full view of who has what, see the Permissions report.
2. Data access level — also on the Permissions tab. Set to "View all" and the teacher can see everything they have permission to access across the whole school. Set to "only assigned" and they see only the classes, lessons, students and notes for lessons they teach.
What appears in the sidebar
Each item only appears if the teacher has been granted the matching permission:
Dashboard
My profile
Calendar
People
Classes and events
Payments
Group messaging
Reports
School management
The teacher dashboard
Shows: Announcements, Today's activity, Birthdays, and a Checklist. The admin-only Lessons, Payments, and Group message widgets are not shown. Teachers can hide individual widgets from their own user settings.
Their profile tabs
Profile, Classes, Events, Teacher's fees, Payslips, Notes, Attachments, Availability — and Attendance (full-access users only) and Permissions (admin only).
What teachers typically do
Take attendance on a lesson — mark students present, absent or late, tick excused, add gold stars, red flags and per-lesson notes
Maintain gradebooks and enter grades
Set their own availability (which feeds the student-facing booking page)
Send SMS, email and group messages (if permitted)
View their own payslips and fee lines
Two-factor authentication
If your school has two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled for staff and teachers, teachers are prompted to set it up the first time they log in. See Two-Factor Authentication (2FA).
Teachers cannot edit their own profile by default
There is no special self-edit route for teachers. Unless an admin grants the teacher's group the "edit teacher" permission, they can view their own profile but not change it.
