Teach 'n Go has two levels of timezone setting: a school-wide timezone and optional personal timezones for individual users. This article explains how they interact.
If you don't see the Settings section, ask your admin to check your permissions.
School timezone
The school timezone is the reference timezone for all scheduling. Set it at Settings → General → Date and time. All lessons, class schedules, and reminder triggers are anchored to this timezone.
Admin users always work in the school timezone — there is no option for an admin to switch to a personal timezone.
If your school has branches, each branch has its own timezone setting, independent of the main school.
Personal timezones
Non-admin users — students, teachers, and parents accessing the portal — can set a personal timezone on their own profile. When set, lesson times displayed in the portal render in their personal timezone rather than the school's.
How timezones are resolved
Teach 'n Go resolves timezones in this order: personal timezone (if set) → school timezone → London (UTC/GMT) as a fallback. In practice, you should always have the school timezone set explicitly to avoid unexpected behaviour.
Reminders and notifications
The reminder engine triggers notifications based on the school timezone — for example, a "1 hour before lesson" reminder fires 1 hour before the lesson time in school time. The notification itself renders in the recipient's timezone, so the lesson time shown in the message will appear in their local time if they have a personal timezone set.
