How to add related contacts and relationships

Learn how to create a related contact, link them to students, and give them portal access in Teach ’n Go.

You can create separate profiles and portal accounts for parents, guardians, or other related contacts. This allows them to stay informed about a student’s progress, payments, and communication while keeping accounts properly organised.


Add a related contact

  1. Go to the Add + menu.

  2. Select Related contact.

  3. Complete the contact details in the Add contact form.

  4. Click Save.


Link the contact to a student

  1. Open the Related contact profile.

  2. Navigate to the Relationships tab, a

  3. Select the student you want to link.

  4. Choose the relationship type (e.g. Mother, Father, Guardian).

  5. Save your changes.

If the contact is linked to multiple students (for example, siblings), you can add multiple relationships.


Grant portal access

If you want the related contact to access the portal:

  1. Open the Related contact profile.

  2. Enable Portal access.

  3. Save the changes.

Once activated, the contact can log in and view information for all students they are connected to.

After logging in, they can switch between students using the dropdown menu at the top right of the portal.


Enable email notifications

Related contacts can receive the same emails sent to students.

  1. Open the Related contact profile.

  2. Enable the Email notification option.

  3. Save your changes.


Billing related contacts

You can bill a related contact (e.g. a parent) for all their linked students at once.

  1. Create a new payment.

  2. In the select student/contact field, enter the related contact’s name.

  3. The system will automatically display all outstanding fees for every student linked to that contact.

  4. Review the items and remove any fees if needed.

  5. Click Save to generate the receipt.


Creating separate related contact accounts improves communication and keeps families informed. By linking contacts to multiple students and enabling portal access, you ensure smooth collaboration between your school and families.
