Overview

When your old payment method expires or is no longer valid, it’s important to update your account so your rent stays on track. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to cancel your existing auto-pay, delete the outdated payment method, and add a new one—step by step. It’s quick, easy, and ensures your payments are always up to date.

Step 1 - Cancel your current Auto-Pay

Your first step is to cancel your existing auto-pay. This will ensure that no payment attempts are made using your old payment method, which may no longer be active. To cancel your existing auto-pay, you'll need to head over to the Payments section of your portal and, under the Active Auto-Pay section, select the Cancel Auto-Pay option.

For more detailed steps on how to cancel your existing auto-pay, you can follow the steps provided here: How to Cancel Auto-Pay Through the Tenant Portal.

Step 2 - Delete your old payment method

Next, you'll need to remove your old payment method so you don't accidentally select it again when making a payment. To do so, you'll have to go into the Make a Payment wizard, and on step 2, click the X next to the payment method you want to remove.

For more detailed steps on how to delete your old payment method, you can follow the steps provided here: How to Remove a Saved Payment Method on the Tenant Portal.

Step 3 - Add your new payment method

Once your old auto-pay and payment methods are deleted, you can now begin the process of adding a new payment method. You can add a new payment method by going back to the Make a Payment wizard and going to step 2 again. While you can add a payment method while creating an auto-pay, this way is recommended since you'll most likely need to verify your new payment method and start the payment process over again.

For more detailed steps on how to add a new payment method, you can follow the steps provided here: How to Add a New Payment Method on the Tenant Portal.

Step 4 - Set up your new auto-pay

The final step after adding your new payment method is to set up your new auto-pay. Now that your payment method has been verified and added, setting up your new auto-pay will be a breeze. To do this, just begin the Make a Payment wizard again and make sure you choose Auto-Pay as the payment option. This will set up a brand new auto-pay using your new payment method that you set up in the previous step.

For more detailed steps on how to add a new auto-pay, you can follow the steps provided here: How to Set Up Auto-pay on the Tenant Portal.

That’s it! With your new payment method and auto-pay set up, you’re all set. Keeping your account updated only takes a few minutes and helps avoid any payment issues down the line.
