Taxonomy: Fields

Updated over a year ago

Taxonomy

Taxonomy is the organization of information, also known as information architecture.

Taxonomy: Fields

Similar to project fields, taxonomy fields are metadata but for interviews, where project fields are metadata for projects. Use these fields to organize interviews and the snippets from those interviews.

There are two types of fields:

Fixed Fields

Fixed fields are fields that are set up by Tetra and are not editable. An example of fixed fields are the Interview Date and the Interview link which are currently present on all projects.

Custom Fields

Custom fields are fields that have been created by you or a colleague and are editable. These fields will appear in all interviews in a project. They also may have been created by the source template (more on templates here)

Custom fields are often a good way to organize your interviews and also apply important data about the participant. Oftentimes, this can be demographic data, product data, persona types, etc.

Creating Fields

To create a field, click the Create Field button and give the field a name and a field type. Note: the default field type is currently multi-select.

  • For select and multi-select field types, create and edit values by clicking on the Value button.

    • Type the value desired to make available for users and press enter.

    • Edit or delete the value name and color by clicking the three dots in the drop-down.

  • These edits can also be performed on the interview page.

*Fields can be used to filter snippets when you are synthesizing.
