How do I get started?

How do I earn funding and make money with Topstep?

  • Topstep gives you the chance to engage in the financial markets through Futures trading! You have the chance to take Payouts with Topstep by passing the Trading Combine and becoming a Topstep Funded Trader.

  • Once you've passed the Trading Combine and opened your Express Funded Account, you can start requesting regular Payouts based on our simple Payout Policy.

How do I contact the Support Team?

When and what products can I trade?

  • If you want to know when you can trade, it's important to keep in mind that the Trading Combine is for day traders, meaning that positions cannot be held from one session to the next or into the weekend close.

Topstep requires that traders close their positions daily before 3:10:00 PM Central Time (CT) Monday through Friday. You can resume trading at 5:00 pm CT. After the weekend, trading resumes on Sunday at 5:00:00 PM CT.

  • If you want to know what you can trade, Topstep offers certain Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) Futures Contracts that are available to trade. The full list of permitted products is available here: When and what products can I trade?

Can I trade during the news and economic releases?

  • Yes, you can trade during the news and economic releases, at your own risk. Topstep recommends using caution during times of high volatility, but trading is permitted. What Trading Platforms do you offer?

The platforms currently available for Mac/iOS are TopstepX, MotiveWave, Bookmap, VolFix, TradingView, and Tradovate. Our other platforms only work with Windows-based computers.

What countries are eligible to trade with Topstep?

  • Most counties are eligible to trade with Topstep. Even if you are not a US Citizen, in most cases you can earn a Funded Account with Topstep.

There are a few countries that we cannot legally do business with. Check to see which countries are not permitted to trade with Topstep by viewing our Eligibility page here.

Can I change my account size or Trading Platform?

How long does it take to pass the Trading Combine?

  • The duration to pass the Trading Combine depends entirely on you! The minimum time required is 2 trading days because of our Consistency Target objective. However, there's no rush, as there's no maximum limit to complete the Trading Combine -- you can take all the time you need. Learn more about the Consistency Target here

Your monthly subscription that provides access to the Trading Combine will continue to rebill each month until you pass or cancel. You can learn more about how the monthly subscription works here.

I'm a Forex trader new to Futures, what do I need to know?

  • If you're a Forex trader new to Futures, you should know that our program is for Futures trading only. Topstep does not offer Forex trading. That said, we highly recommend Foreign Exchange Futures to anyone with a Forex trading background. Learn more about the advantages of trading FX Futures here!

Can I put my Trading Combine subscription on hold?

  • No, you cannot pause or put your Trading Combine subscription on hold once it's started due to system limitations. Once you begin a new Trading Combine, it will renew monthly until you pass it and earn your Express Funded Account, or until you cancel your subscription.

  • That said, there's no time limit for completing the Trading Combine. You can keep your subscription active while you're away, though you'll still be billed monthly. Alternatively, you can cancel your subscription and sign up again when you're ready to trade. Just note that if you cancel, any progress on the old account will be lost.
