When using live scoring for competitive individual or team-based events, scores must be verified once a player or team's round is complete. While players, scoring stations, or walking scorers enter unofficial scores during the round, the verifiers (at the verification station) are responsible for reviewing the unofficial scores to ensure they are accurate. This is typically done by entering verification scores (from the official scorecard) and comparing the verification scores with the unofficial scores.

In this article, we will discuss how you can set up verification stations and allow the verifiers to review scores.

Setting Up Verification Stations:

To set up a verification station, follow these instructions:

  1. Go to Rounds > Mobile App Stations.

  2. Click "Add Verification Station."

  3. Enter the name of the verification station (e.g., West Course Scoring Area, 18 green, etc.).

  4. Select the course for the verification station (if multiple courses are used in the round). If the verification station is eligible to verify scores for all courses, select "All."

  5. If a two-tee start is used, you can display only the pairing groups that started on #1 or #10. If a shotgun start is used, you can display pairing groups that started on certain holes. Simply select the starting hole then the "+" button to select more holes. This option allows you to control what pairing groups can be verified at this verification station.

  6. Select from the following Advanced Permissions:

    1. Allow scorer to re-verify groups: If selected, the score verifier can re-verify a pairing group's scores if they have previously been verified. If left un-selected, any verified scores cannot be re-verified.

    2. Display current scores during verification: When selected, the current (unofficial) scores will be visible during the verify score entry process.

  7. Click "Continue".

Once a verification station is set up, you can access the GGID for that station by going to Rounds > Mobile App Stations (as shown below).

If managing an event using multiple courses, you can set up more verification stations (if necessary).

Verifying Scores:

Scores are verified using our mobile, iPad, or Android app. To verify scores, follow these instructions:

  1. Enable Mobile Score Entry under the Rounds Menu.

  2. Enter a Verification Station GGID into the app. A summary page will be displayed to confirm that the correct GGID was entered.

  3. Click "Continue".

  4. Select a pairing group to verify scores.

  5. Enter the verification scores for the first player or team in the pairing group.

  6. Click "Review."

  7. Review the verification scores with the (unofficial) scores currently entered. If there are scores that do not match, they will be highlighted in yellow.

    1. If a verification score is incorrect, you can click "edit" to change the score and review again.

    2. If the currently entered (unofficial) score is incorrect, click "Verify," and the verification score will override the currently entered (unofficial) score.

  8. Repeat the previous step for any remaining players or teams in the pairing group.

The sequence below shows the process of verifying scores during an individual event for the first player in a pairing group. The process for verifying team-based scores is similar. In this sequence, an unofficial score was incorrectly entered on #17 and replaced with the verification score.
